Location: Idaho | So my colt is currently on pasture, he will be 5 in May. I am starting to ride him more. I have noticed he is getting a little skinnier because he is getting worked more than he was over the winter. This is the first time I have had a horse on pasture, and I have been told that it will grow more when it gets warmer and it is pretty good for the horses. The horses also have free range grass hay, in case they need it. I also feed him a hand mix of Rolled oats and Cracked corn, which I fed him before I moved.
Basically I was wondering what kind of supplements do you feed your horses, to help them keep the weight on when they are on pasture? I'm thinking of adding some protein to his diet. I know Alfalfa is a hit and miss out here because of the Blister beetles, but are alflafa pellets or cubes any better? Or what else can I feed him? I'm not a big sweet feed/molasses fan.. As I've never seen any long term benefit from them. I like to keep things as natural as possible for them.
For a vitamin/mineral supplement I really like Necessity, with liquid form but it won't help him keep up his weight, just help him with all the nutrients he would need. I'm very new to pasture boarding a horse.. so any insight from the more experienced, would be great :) |

Yep I do THE Muscle Mass over anything but mine that are in pasture don't get supplements. It's too hard to find them everyday and keep them from eating each others lol. But if I had a small pasture and grained daily, this would be my go-to. I have a ton of customers that love it and it has always treated my horses well. |

| If you have GOOD grass you do not need any supplements. My oldest horse is 25 never been stalled only on forage and still acts like he is 5. Have a soil test to make sure he is getting the nutrients he needs. |

Do you have a link to this product? Looked it up and all I found was Muscle Mass Plus which said it was the alternative to steroids. |
