| Does any one use glue on shoes? Please share your experiences. What brand have you used? Do you have trouble keeping them on? Which ones give decent traction and which brands don't? If you like them, why do you like them better then regular shoes or barefoot? |

Location: Mi | I've used glue on shoes on my mare. I had good luck with them. Any aluminum shoe should be able to be glued on from my understanding. Mine stayed on just like a normal shoe. We glued on because there wasn't enough to nail to. |

| I wanted to use these on my thin soled and walled ex race horse. My farrier said that if we did that he would never improve. SO we put regular shoes on and do "Hot" shoeing to drive that quick back up. So far I think its working! But I have always wanted to try those. THis colt loses shoes pretty bad when he runs. Doesn't over reach, simply turns so hard the walls can't hold them, but they are getting fewer and fewer now/ |

| My horse grows a tremendous amount of toe and has very under run and contracted heels. She has been barefoot for over a yr but had to wear boots 24/7 because of thin soles. Yes! ....her feet are a mess! But at least barefoot I can keep her toes rasped back so she doesn't get so broken back. In regular shoes she needs reset every 3 weeks to keep her somewhat balanced. I've heard with glue on plastic you can rasped the toes off without removing the shoes. And I could get her out of these boots because it would lift her thin soles off of the ground. |

How much do they cost on average? I cant find prices anywhere, and most of the dealers that have websites dont actually carry their products. . .
I was looking at the elite Flats.

| One of my mare's momma could only have glue on shoes. She had absolutely terrible feet, thin soled with no wall to speak of. Her's were plastic and had to be reset every 3-4 weeks. She ran for many, many years with them. |

Location: Desert Land | I used the Epona shoes on a gelding I had. He had absolutely no heel when I got him so the vet put these on him and to begin with we were just gluing them on until he grew some heel and we had some room to work with to be able to nail them. It’s been a while, so I don’t remember a lot about it except it was $200 every 4 weeks for a full set to do them at the time and they worked really well to change the heel growth, it was awesome. The vet took pictures and measurements every time he did him so we could note progress. |

Location: Opelousas, LA | I used the Soundhorse Flexx shoes on a mare I had and they worked great for her. The shoes were about $35 a pair and the glue was about $18 from the same company that makes the shoes. We did have to use a different glue in the winter because the glue from the shoe company set too slow in the cold, so that cost a little more. I had no problems with traction, even when it got muddy and slick. We usually went 5-6 weeks and most of the time we had to cut the glue between the shoe and the hoof to get them off.
I was hesitant to use glue ons because I had always heard the glue will ruin thier feet. In fact the exact opposite happened, her wall in the quarters got thicker and stronger and her heels started growing down instead of forward. We probably could have gone back to nailing shoes on but it wasn't costing much with my hubby doing the work so we stck with the glue ons.
