I bought a rescue horse and was told that I could possible do a test to see if we could track her parents and see if we can get her registered... can anyone give me any advice on how I would do this and cost? I was told it was only $25 but that seems low.

You can pull blood to have DNA done, but you need name of sire/dam in order for AQHA to do anything. If no names, your SOL. sorry.

Ugh! that lady must have been feeding me a line, I'd never heard of it either so I was surprised, she said oh yeah, it'd be easy to have her registered if you just did the test... If her parents were registered and they showed up maybe??

No, AQHA doesn't have the resources to check blood against every sire/dam in the registry. That's millions upon millions of names. They can check if you have a possible sire/dam name, that's the downside.

Yep, you're right! whoever said that is full of it, they can't do it! Someone told me for $25 you could figure it out. I don't think so! ugh... All I've ever had was registered horses so this is new to me.
