| I know there has been extensive talk about supplements for specific things. But what supplement do you use for overall health, joing issues prevention, calming, ect and why? Iv done some research on CurOst and Animal Element but would like to hear some personal experiences with other products as well. |

Location: Piedmont, OK | The Foundation Detox by Animal Element in my opinion is the best overall supplement on the market. It is great for coat, hooves, joints, ridding the body of toxins, it now has tumeric which is a natural anti-inflammatory and magnesium. There are no fillers so you get your monies worth - the most bang for your buck! All natural and every single ingredient in it is good for them! |

Location: Louisiana | My easy keeper no issue guy gets AE Detox. My problem child has been on CurOst for about 5 months now. It has done wonders for him, but the price is catching up to me. I just ordered Finish Line's Total Control Plus to try. I got the largest tub, about a 4 month supply, so if at the end of it I feel he has regressed any, I'll go back to CurOst. |

| Im currently leaning towards the Animal Element. How long does the 7 lb bag last if you only feed 1 scoop a day? |

| I'm going with Curost Green on this one. THis formula is actually affordable and has all the vital nutrients in it as well as lower levels of Curcumin for general day to day inflammation. |

Not visually. My horses are always in great shape, shiny, slick, worm free, on a natural diet, teeth done, the best forage I can possibly get. So they looked great before, during, and after using it. But No, its not like I started the EQ green and suddenly had a " wow" moment. I think it supports what I already do with their care. |

I have had good luck with the Finish Line products and I started using Finish Line Total Control last summer and liked it. |

Location: NE Texas | I like the Cur-OST Total Support. Similar to the Green but packs a little more punch with added stomach support and higher doses of curcurming for inflammatory support. It did make a huge difference in my horse, however he was very sick and I didn't have much to start with. These products were a last resort for me. I have used it on others that weren't sick for daily management of inflammation and the rigors of training. These horses didn't have any issue to begin with and hopefully this product will help keep it that way by being proactive rather than reactive in terms of managing inflammation. |

| Vitalize High Performance. Don't waste your money with feed through joint supplements. They have been proven to not work. Give Polyglycan or something similar . |

Location: Midwest | Good feed, good quality hay, and proper health and footcare go a very long way. I do add amplify as a fat source and msm ams pentosan, and sand clear.
Also lots of turnout.
I I have tried some supplements in the past and found I have better luck with the best feed I can get and addressing issues as they come with an excellent vet or farrier. My riding horse is 19 and not slowing down. |

Location: North Dakota | I don't believe in general supplements. If you need a supplement that takes care of ALL those things listed in the OP, you have a serious problem that supplements can't fix. Besides, most are completely ineffective anway. If your horse gets good feed and hay and fresh water, they don't need general health supplements. There are some specialized supplements that can help with one targeted issue though that are worthwhile. The only one I've tried personally that worked is Cur-Ost. My horse has inflammation in his back due to KS and this keeps it under control just as well as injections, if not better. It is spendy though. Unless you have some expendable income, I probably wouldn't use it as a preventative. |

I have used both at different times. I used AE about 6 years ago and loved it. But I quit riding for a while and so quit feeding any supplements. I used it because we are surrounded by farm fields and I felt the horses needed a detox and then kept them on it because it was affordable and I liked how they looked and acted on it.
I use Cur Ost now. My horse had digestive issues. I love Cur Ost, too. It has really helped an older barrel mare who was a futurity horse become less stiff and travel more freely. Both horses look great and feel really good.
In the future, if I couldn't afford Cur Ost for my horse, I would go back to AE if it is still as affordable as it was. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | I tried the Exceed 6 way, 2 of my 3 wouldn't touch it. Added it slowly, even with Healthy Coat over they wouldn't touch it. I've done the AE detox...loved the product but twice had issues where my card was charged but the product didn't get shipped, the first time no big deal, the second time I just got fed up. Doesnt' do me any good to have them on and off the product. I bit the bullet and tried the Cur_ost after dealing with on and off lameness in my gelding and hoping there was something out there that would help my head shaker mare even more. While I was waiting for the Cur_ost to come in, I had order the Green, Stomach and Adapt&Calm....my gelding came up VERY lame, pointing his right foot. The Cur-ost came in Tuesday, he got his first dose on Tuesday night, Wednesday he came trotting over, not sound mind you but significantly better and not standing pointing his foot. My little nervous nelly mare got the Stomach, by the weekend she could actually stand to go for trail rides down the creek without bolting over every sound and the head shaker mare was doing beautifully also. I ended up changing all of them over to the Total Support. The gelding ended up having a very deep abscess up against his digital cushion in the inside bar of his foot, got that taken care of, his x-rays had shown some changes to his coffin and navicular bones, not extensive but enough the vet felt we were gong to have to do some significant shoeing changes. The gelding had a follow up appt. 3 weeks later to check to see how the area was filling back in, he had gotten a shot of Osphos and had been put on Isoxaprine (sp). Passed the lameness exam on hard rocky ground both in the straightaway and in circles. I told my vet what I had him on and he felt that if it was enough to help keep him sound without having to do wedges and the likes he was happy to go with it. He has not taken a lame step since. The little mare I had gotten the STomach for went to her first 2 day race in almost 4 years, ate and drank, handled the warm up pen beautifully, ran well and had no issues with the old stifle injury. My head shaker mare is now able to collect up into the bridle again, we have been able to actually do drills and start getting her back into working shape rather than just go for trail rides and stay out of her face. |

| I used to kind of agree that the best forage, vet, farrier care was all a horse really needed etc. and for the most part, thats what MOST horses need. However, horses were not designed to do what we ask them to do. They are supposed to be grazers and open range animals. They naturally have the ability to roam and find/eat what they need at the time they need it. HOWEVER, we break them to ride, we compete on them ( And their joints) at speeds that they would not naturally do day in and day out. We confine them to pens and pastures so they can't naturally forage for what their body needs. So I do believe and all around supplement is necessary for most general horses and of course targeting supplements for specific issues. |

| For all of you feeding the cur-ost, HOW do you keep the yellow stain off you fingers and clothes. I just started trying it and jury is out on if it is working. Have not had enough time to ride lately. |
