So recently my gelding has developed something strange. He has no lameness at a normal gait but whenever he tries to throw his head up (from feeling fresh) his back end gives out from under him and he almost falls. This is all done when im not even on him FYI he is just loose in the round pen. Im think neurological?? anyone have any similar experience??
Thanks!

Lyme Disease can be dormant and then you'll start seeing symptoms, then those symptoms may come and go and range from lethargy, crankiness to sore joints, etc... It's really tricky...but can be diagnosed with a blood test.

One other options for you. When my horse is sore in the hocks he will stumble in the hind end and about go down. Causing him to hollow out his back and toss his head. It happens pretty quick so just thinking maybe the head tossing is not causing the hind end stumble but the hind end stumble might be causing the head tossing. Just one more thing to watch for.
