First time pregnancy for my mare. We confirmed her in foal last week and checked her hormones. My vet said was a 3.3 on her progesterone levels and they should be around 4. She suggested giving her Regumate shots weekly. Has anyone had any alternate ideas that have worked to increase their progesterone levels? Just checking options

You can give Regumate orally as well just as a top dressing on their feed. But low levels are low levels and need to be supplemented so she doesn't slip the foal. We had to do it this entire last pregnancy with one of our mares. Older mare. We bred her to DTF. Trust me, we weren't willing to risk her slipping.

Make sure if you give it orally you have a bucket dedicated to just her and wear gloves. It is a bit cheaper that way but a bit more of a daily hassle. Don't miss a day. If you have to be out of town, get a shot from your vet. We leave sometimes and have someone help us feed. The shot will buy us five days without worry.
