I just used Dr. Huffman. I really liked him. They have a lameness locater and he was very thorough. We spent well over hour on my horse. We found a small bone spur on my horse's hock and he surprised me by saying he didn't think it warranted hock injections, but did recommend Adequan and a glucosamine supplement. My horse is doing great with Adequan and Cur Ost Pure which I like better than the glucosamine supplement.

Dr Huffman and Dr Martin at Retama have a lameness locator. They are both very caring and very good veterinarians, and I'm personally pretty fond of both of them. I've worked with them for years.

If they can't find it, and something is still wrong, then Texas A&M, Dr Watts or Dr Watkins get me an accurate diagnosis everytime. I've made that drive from Three Rivers a lot, it's only about 3.5-4 hrs. Worth it.

We use Dr. Huffman at Retama for most everything, including lameness, but if we have a difficult to identify lameness problem, Dr. Dutton at Hill Country Equine is excellent.

I can't say enough good things about Retama. They have been my emergency go to for 15 years. My horses have always received quality care from lameness, to colic surgery, to ulcer diagnosis, a fractured pelvis, stitching up a ripped eye, facial reconstruction after plowing into something during a storm, (not all the same horse, thankfully!) and most recently, a trach on my 24 year old mare. Love that place!!!

Dr Robert Ball is next to Retama and has been an amazing lameness vet for years. You won't be disappointed. Dripping Springs, Sunset Canyon vet clinic has 2 very good lameness vets as well. Dr Kotzur and Dr Pruitt.

Dr. Bill Symm is in Kerrville. I used him when he worked for Dr. Honnas and really like him a lot.

Well, that's probably too far, but just thought I'd throw it out there.

I didn't realize Dr Symm was in Kerrville, I thought he was still at Bryan. I worked with him while he was at Retama. He is really cool and genuinely loves the horses. He's a good recommendation too.
