Location: Gainesville, TX | So who all has built a barn house? How much did it end up costing you, especially per square foot? We are looking at buying a place or building our own and want to get the most bang for our buck. |

| We lived in one, I really liked it. It was a 2 story, about 2800 sq ft, garage on one side and 6 stalls on the other side of the garage. As far as cost it is like building any other house. Set your budget, figure out price per square ft. Your finishes will determine your final cost, granite vs laminate, type of cabinets, etc. |

Location: Alberta | I'm no help on cost but I'd really look into county restrictions on potentially building one (the county next to us wouldn't allow a building like that when buying raw land) also verfiting what type of financing is available (bank or farm loan) some banks won't do house/barn or house/shop combo buildings....at least up here anyways.

Location: Texas | I love barndominiums, however with that being said take into consideration if your ever plan to sell it. This may limit your potential buyers, as not everyone will want to live in one and also check with your insurance company to see if they have any restrictions or set higher rates for that type of housing. Good luck with it.... |
