| I have a horse that started coughing when the weather started heating up. I started soaking her grass hay in a slow feeding hay net and that helped a little bit. I started running her on 5ccs of Lasix a few weeks ago and she is definitely running harder to the third barrel.
SOMETIMES she will cough:
-right after she rolls (1-3x)
-during exercise or warm up (1-3x)
This weekend, after running her for the 2nd time (2 day show), she came out and started coughing...like 6x. It was dusty in the warm up area as well. She has the same cough after rolling, during warm up, and this weekend after running.
She gets long trotted and/or loped 2miles almost everyday.
Should I give her a supplement for allergies? If so what is the best? Years ago I did the hair analysis on her and they gave me herbs for allergies. I didn't see any difference in her and honestly thought I flushed my money down the toilet. |

Location: God's country...aka TEXAS | I would get her scoped to see exactly what is going on. She could still be bleeding internally even with the lasix, or have an infection etc. Once you know exactly what you are dealing with it will be easier to find the correct supplement or medication. I use Oxygen 2X for my horse with allergies and it makes a huge difference. Also bleeder stop if needed. |

Location: Where the long tails flow, ND | My mare started out coughing and not performing, had her scoped and she had pharyngitis. Also tested for allergies at that time. She came back allergic to the world. While treating for pharyngitis, ordered the allergy shots. She looked and felt like crap on Ventipulmin and Dex. I kept her on the allergy shots for a year, along with Oxy supplements, aides, you name it, and that following fall she developed Pneumonia. It was really scary.
Since, I've found Cur-OST and it's been a life saver. I've removed her from all supplements, aides, processed feeds, etc. and she is eating the very things she was allergic to.

Location: NE Texas | Absolutely the Cur-OST products. I have tried every product out there, including all of the prescription medications for horses with allergies and respiratory issues. These products truly saved his life and was a last resort. Sure glad I took the leap of faith! After seeing the results my horse had, I began taking it myself to see if I could get some relief from my allergies. I have gone from taking a Claritin D every day of my life and steroid shots twice a year to not taking any antihistamines since June of last year. It's amazing the difference!
My horse had gone into complete respiratory distress due to allergies, which turned into full blown COPD. We'd spent several thousand dollars trying to treat with vets, treatments and medications. He was on 8 cc of Ventipulmin a day combined with Dexamethasone and still unable to take a deep enough breath to cough. After months of treatment and alot of money spend, he continued to decline. As a last ditch effort to save him, and much discussion with Dr. Schell, veterinarian and formulator of the products, I decided to give it a shot. BEST DECISION EVER!!!! The pictures below are from last year, 30 days apart. The first one was the day we began the Cur-OST. He had been on Ventiplumin, Dex, and Omeprazole and was still declining. The second was off all medications and on the EQ Total Support and EQ Immune & Repair for 30 days.

Location: Piedmont, OK | I had allergy testing done on one and she is apparently allergic to absolutely everything. She gets the formulated allergy shots once a month. the initial testing was around $350 but the shots are inexpensive. I just got her shots for this year and it was $95 for the vial. I also keep her on Animal Element Boost which has lysine to keep her immune system up. |

Herbie, what do you use on yourself? I'm about at my wit's end with these allergies of mine. I take an Allegra every morning and Singulair every nite, and when they're bad, sometimes a Zyrtec at noon!! And I STILL get sick during bad allergy season! I love spring, but I hate the allergies that come with it!

I use the HU Ultimate and the HU Immune together. I've now cut the dose of the HU Immune in half and am still maintaining.....could probably cut it out all together, but am scared to. I've had one day where I thought I might have to take a Claritin D, but ended up not having to after I double dosed myself with the Ultimate. |

Location: cincinnati, oh | I have a mare with allergies. At the height of allergy season I kept her on Ventipulmin quite often. I tried Tri-hist and Anti-hist and she wouldnt eat them and trying to syringe them was a fight. I asked an old racetrack vet I used and he suggested Iodide powder. It was a game changer. Kept her feeling good and kept her allergies at bay and it was cheap. I had her scoped as a 4yr old and was told she had Pharyngitis and that vet told me eventually she would probably end up with COPD and it would end her career. Suggested feeding her on the ground, wetting her hay and Tri-hist. She is 16 and still running :) |

Location: Alberta, Canada | Cur-Ost!!! My mare had the exact same thing going on! It got so bad this spring because of the forest fires and smoke. Started her on a Cur-Ost regimen three weeks ago and haven't heard her cough in over a week... at all! And she's firing harder! Since starting Cur-Ost I've run her at 2 big added money weekend races and a rodeo... the rodeo was a write off because of rider error but she was top of the 1D in every other run... with mistakes and deep tough ground. And we were up against tough horses and girls.

Location: North Dakota | Clean diet and Cur-OST herbs gave me a horse I never even knew I had. Not only can she breathe finally she is happier and has so much energy and drive. Before I had a grumpy, lazy, and dull mare with COPD. I was managing her with steriods and any supplement I could find and I thought I was doing a good job. I did the wetting down of her hay, kept her out of dusty enviroments, took her off hay completely for awhile and fed her only alfalfa pellets and senior feed and I never had her feeling this good. I found Cur-OST about 7 months ago and haven't looked back. She still has a day here or there where she has some mucus discharge but that is to be expected due to the lung damage already done and I can't take away all the dust and pollen in the world but I know these products help my mare handle those stressors better than she ever has.
ETA: Top picture is a year ago on Senior feed, steriods and wetting her hay. I still had a horse who had bad days more than she had good days.
Bottom picture is last week on whole oats, whole flax ,Cur-OST herbs and now I don't have to wet her hay down. Now I have a horse who feels REALLY REALLY good 90% of the time.

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | THE Lung Function is on sale this month. 20% off and they have a great guarantee. I use it when we have dry/hot summers and my horse gets one of those nasty coughs. So far has worked every time.
Lung Function is formulated to provide the necessary precursors that will allow the horse’s own ability to heal the damage and focus nutritional support on lung function for the proper regulation of pulmonary pressure within the lungs, while increasing elasticity in the capillaries. Lung Function formula is best used for support for coughs, mild breathing issues, and lung function. We also offer a COPD formula.

| I had 2 horses on total support from Curost and it worked great! THe 200 a month was not as great. SO I moved my horses over to Forefront respiratory and that was awesome to. I ran out and and while I waited for the order to come in I used French's mustard.. My horse with severe allergies has not coughed ONCE on the mustard and licks his bucket clean |
