This is my mare, she's a jam up barrel horse and almost always pulls a check (if I can stay outta her way) I got a really nice colt from her last year. Have been thinking about doing some more ETs on her next year. I have a few stallions in mind BUTI know there are some folks who are pretty savvy on pedigree and magic crosses so thought I'd see what others thought or knew to be excellent crosses. |

Do you care about color? If you are looking for a tobiano stud, that narrows it down a lot. If you aren't worried about spots, that opens it up a bunch!
Is there anything you want to fix or temper about your mare? Size? Disposition? What's your stud fee budget?

Location: Gainesville, TX | Really nice mare. I think Strait Firewater and CRM Livewire are both a couple really nice paint stallions and very affordable. |

| I don't give a hoot about color, APHA or AQHA. I just want that baby to run and turn lol! I'd prefer a stallion that's known to throw free runners. She's super ratey and I have to stay pretty aggressive to get her past them which isn't my preferred style.
Other than that I can't knock her on much else, she's got a mind of gold and I can put anyone on her. I can gather cows all day and run her at night. She's just that solid.
Conformationally I'd like a bigger foot on her. She wears an 0.
Budget for SF is around $2500 but if it's a known magic cross then I could probably scrape up another $1k

Location: Montana | CRM Livewire would be worth a look and so would Bull next year. You'd have some incentive money through the APHA if you breed her to a colored Paint, regardless of the foal's color. I haven't seen either one, but the CRM Livewire foals are cute in photos!
I question the idea of "magic crosses" with Paints to an extent. Our gene pool is so tiny it's hard to really test the theories. There have been a lot of great Shawne Bug, Treasured, and Texas Hero crosses with Judy's Lineage but I'd argue that since they all stood at least some if not all of their careers at Bowlan Farm they had the best chances to produce well together.
What I'd see in your mare's very nice pedigree is a nice chance to go with DFC or FDD up close. Special Effort and DFC horses are legit magic crosses. And you can find some DFC horses with a decent foot.
Glad you aren't thinking of having her carry the foal . . . I wouldn't take that risk on a bet if I was you!

| Thank you, she's pretty special to me, bought her as a 3 year old and have never looked back. I had a chance to buy her momma a few years ago and I kick myself for not doing it.
