Ok I am finally going this year. Any helpful tips. I know the stalls are concrete and I am getting two matts. Is that enough? Also on average how many bags of shaving do you typically bed down? Anything else. We do have a tack stall so thats going to be helpful.

Enjoy, it's a fun time. I always rented the mats and started with 2 bags of shavings. I found hanging a fan in the stall was beneficial too, but mainly because our horses are not used to the 100 degree weather in June and it gets warm in the stall area. I also found it very handy to keep a cooler of water on ice in the tack stall for us. There was a large ice machine next to the office in the stall barn so it was easy to have ice available. And had a cooler of snacks and sandwich fixins in the room to cut down on the expense of food and just ate out 1 meal each day. Have a great time!

It's a great time. Depending on what day you get there unloading can be very hectic. We bring a cooler and leave in the tack stall with drinks and snacks. I usually buy a extra bag of shaving to put down like on Saturday. Two mats should be enough. The facility is amazing.

i always have an icechest and snacks in the tack stall. we also kept chairs to just hang out. you will have a blast!!!! don't try to stay at another hotel even if it saves money. someone tried that and that was a big mistake! The breakfast buffet was pretty good and the coupon book gives you a half off day so we used that on saturday when it was more anyway. also we liked to get up early and hit up the cheapie breakfast which was very good at the cafe. I think it was like $3.50 for bacon eggs, hashbrowns and toast. or if you party at night you can have a cheap dinner after midnight. One year I was a late entry so rode after 10;00 so by the time we got the horse settled it was almost midnight so we had a very good burger for about $5. can't remember exactly.
