Location: Pacific Northwest | I never enter it. Most of the races around here have the Open, novice, youth, senior and then you can enter the sidepot. I always just run in the open. I know when you enter the sidepot you're just competing against the other people entered in and your time from the open rolls over. Is it specifically just for a second chance of getting a check? |

| Yes, a sidepot is essentially entering another "class" but they use your time from the open. If you knock, you are SOL for both! lol |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | Pretty much. I don't ever pay into the sidepots because I'm cheap and figure I won't be lucky enough to hit that either. No sense in throwing away more money than I have to. LOL |

Location: North Dakota | I enter the side pots if my horse is eligible. In my area, its usually a Senior, derby or futurity side pot that's offered. If I'm running my futurity horse in the open, I'll pay to enter the futurity side pot. There are organizations here that give out points to eligible riders based on how they finish in several divisions including open, futurity, etc... so its not just a chance at a second check, its points as well. If you tip in the open, you tip in the side pot, but never let the fear of tipping stop you from entering. If you go in thinking you're going to get a no time, you probably will. Positive thoughts = positive results. |

Location: Pacific Northwest | Occasionally we have futurity and derby sidepots but usually it's just a class labeled simply Sidepot lol I never enter for the same reasons as above...just trying to save a little bit of money. But I was thinking at this next race that typically has low entry fees maybe I should enter it. Just wanted to make sure I fully understood what it was. |

Location: WI | We have some around here for members, i.e. Open Barrels, but PEWC member sidepot with $2k added for members only. So, yes I would enter that one! |
