In 1 Corithians 13:11 Paul wrote to the church at Corinth , he encouraged the believers to " put away childish things". Maturity demands it. In Psalm 131, the Psalmist used the word picture of a child being weaned from his mother to illustrate spiritual maturity. Just as babies go through a period of transition when they are weaned from their mother's milk, so Chrisitians go through a transition from a baby Chrisitian to a mature believer who can handle the weightier matters of life and faith.
Psalm 130 lists some of the things we feel as the growing pains of maturity. The author says we sometimes cry out to The Lord when we are overwhelmed by life's events. Our Heavenly Father often allows us to see our need for Him, and we realize we can't face life's difficulties alone. The writer also reminds us maturity is occurring when we feel the guilt of sin. Spiritual growth requires to see the depths of our sin and the forgiveness we have in Christ.
Sometimes The Lord allows us to go through experiences when we cannot see His hand or sense of purpose. These times prompt us to trust Him. At all times our Lord is growing us into the likeness of His Son.
Psalm 131:2 Surely I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with his mother; Like a weaned child is my soul within me.
For it is WITH God all things are possible.
Father God, guide me today to all things that bring glory and honor to You. Help me to mature within my soul. Amen
have a VERY BLESSED Tuesday.
