Location: alabama | I bought a Martin saddle from a girl in Utah, she sent it usps and did not purchase insurance. It's been almost 30 days since it was shipped. Via tracking info it's only made it to Salt Lake City. Has anyone had this kind of experience with usps? Or know what can be done since she didn't buy insurance. |

Location: TX | That's a pretty big box.. you would think it's kind of hard for them to "lose".. I'd be calling everyday 2x a day asking where my saddle was.
Is the seller willing to reimburse? |

Location: alabama | I'm not sure yet. I was going to give it 30 days before I asked for my money back because the post office does not consider it lost until it's been 30 days. I paid her through PayPal but through the "friends" option, so if she's not willing to give my money back is there a way to get it back thru paypal? |

Location: Oklahoma | I would contact the company of the method of shipment with the tracking number. I would be calling morning and evening for a few days. In the meantime, I would also be contacting the person you purchased the saddle from and giving her some options. A saddle either needs to be produced or a refund. I would also be questioning why there was no insurance on the shipment. In the meantime, I would also get your ducks in a row in case you need to file a police report. |

| When I shipped a saddle through ups insurance was an extra 150, so I can see why she didn't put it on if she was paying for shipping.
UPS told me they don't usually loose packages, their stats were 1:1000, to me this happens way too often to not insure |

Well it was usps not sure if that would have made a difference. But I would have paid it if I knew she wouldn't have |

| USPS Absolutely SUCKSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ordered about 1,000 worth of Medications ( Adequan, Legend, etc) and it was shipped USPS. My problem was it said it was DELIVERED to my PO BOX!!!!!! It never ever was delivered to my PO box. I am from a very small town and everyone knows everyone. Post master said it would be put in a lock box with a key and it never made it!!!!! He told Me LOTSSSSSSS of insider info on the Post office that just makes you sick. Basically of some USPS worker has a barrel racer in the family ( Or in my case horses) and they know whats in the box such as saddle ( Or in my case expensive joint medication) they can just take it and put some Phony info in the computer so the tracking says it looks lost or in transit or what have you. I absolutely had insurance on my medications but there wasnt anything I could do since it was scanned " Delivered". |

I'm going to doubt this, crap happens.....not just because some "family member of a barrel racer or horse person" is going to steal a large box because they believe it's a saddle, or other horse items. How are they going to know whats in that box? |

Location: In The Snow, AZ | I sold a saddle a while back and shipped USPS. It was a huge pain in the butt. The buyer gave an extra $75 for shipping and insurance. (I've never shipped a saddle, so I was unaware of costs) it ended up being quite a stretch more then that. But I paid it because I knew the saddle would make it to her then. Insurance is a MUST.
I'm not a big PayPal person. But does the "friend" option make the money available to her quicker?
We had purchased a large (several $1,000's) item. Paid via PayPal. The item never came. We called MANY times to just cancel the order and refund us. We apparently didn't do enough research as to whom we were buying from. It ended up not being a business, but a persons personal cell phone that we would call. She wouldn't answer or would hang up on us. After several months, we called PayPal and said it was fraudulent, they shut down my account, which was fine by me, and refunded the money. |

Location: The best kept secret in TX | Never again will I ship large items with usps. I will ship the if it fits it ships boxes, but those sometimes get lost too... I've had way to many saddles get "lost" stolen or damaged through USPS. Luckily I purchased insurance each time and since I ship so much it wasn't much extra. I now ship via FedEx. I have had one problem with a saddle being "lost" via FedEx in the three years I've used them for larger packages but the saddle turned up the next day. Turns out the driver made a few errors in scanning wrong packages as delivered or what not. FedEx customer service was way more helpful and way more understading. Not to mention they were more professional. They even had a manager call me AND my customer to inform me the driver had been pulled off his route and sent back to the office for additional training. WHOA! They even told my customer they would pay us both for the saddle if it didn't turn up in 78 hours. It wasn't even 24 hours later and my customer had it at her door step. |

Location: NE Texas | Last year my husband shipped a saddle for my mom via FedEx. The saddle made it to Hutchins, TX and then the scans stopped. Bless his heart, he didn't know he was supposed to insure it, and sure enough, it was "lost". Now this man is relentless and he called the Hutchins, TX, FedEx hub and told them he would go park his trailer there and open every single box there until he found this saddle. It took months of calling and them calling him back, but the box was located in Colorado at the "lost freight" hub with no label on it. They found it, asked him to describe it, and shipped it to the final destination again. Lesson learned about insurance.
Now, that being said, my shipping store here will ship used UPS, FedEx, or USPS and according to them, even if you do buy insurance through USPS, they will not honor it. Don't know if that is true or not, but I never ship because of that.
I would bet that the shipping label came off of the box since there are scans of the box and then they stop. All of these items will be sent and stored to the "lost freight" hub somewhere. If you are relentless, you may be able to recover it that way. |

I have found UPS to be more reliable, and most of the time cheaper. I have an online discount with them through eBay or paypal, one of those, and most of the time can ship saddles with insurance for under $60, depending on where it's going. (The last one I shipped went to KS for $35) |

I used it as an example only about the saddle in the box. However, my package said " Valleyvet pet medications" on the outside of the box. I am from a SMALL TOWN, people know I have horses etc. Would not surprise me if someone just took it in case there was something valuable. The POST MASTER himself said it was an inside job. |

The friend option means no fees on the money for the shipper. I will only pay through paypal with a detailed invoice. I also pay fees when people complain about sending an invoice. I would rather pay the fees than not get my money back. It's not much either,. Only a few dollars extra.
If I don't get my item in thirty days I open a claim with paypal. They reimburse me and then go after the shipper for the money. Most of the time if a card or bank account is hooked to paypal, they charge it on the shippers card. So say I paid 250 for a tack set and never got my item or it wasn't represented correctly, I can open a claim and they will investigate. ONLY if it's paid via Invoice. Regardless of if the shipper has the money or not it will debit the account hooked to the shippers paypal. So say they already spent the $250, I still get my money and their bank account is now over drawn $250. |

Does it matter if they know whats in the box??? If its a big ol heavy box someone might take it and worry about that later. Pop it open and if there is a saddle they might try and sell it or whatever. People steal packages all the time from peoples front porch during holidays etc. They steal now, worry about contents later. |

| I have had several things happen with shipping lately. Weatherford, OK ends up in Weatherford TX and was taken from the post office box...Have something shipped to me from a pharmacy and find out it went to the vet 5 days later. After waiting 2 months on some med from a pharmacy that supposedly we signed for but have not received it. The vet and I talked and she stated that the zip code they were using wasn't even correct so we assume it went to Kingman, AZ. Needless to say I am still waiting on it and the vet won't return texts or emails as she said she would have it sent to her and then forward to me. I am assuming I am out the 160.00 that I paid the vet. I am pretty frustrated and I kind of wanted the medicine... |

It's not paranoia it's the truth! We have had SO much trouble with USPS it's not even funny. We don't have large items shipped through USPS for this very reason. None of my dad's disability envelopes have been delivered in the last two months and we know they aren't being stolen out of the mailbox because my mom is crazy and waits like a hawk for them to deliver the mail to their box every day.
I had a check stolen through USPS also. It was sent certified with signature required from my bank for a mortgage escrow over payment. We waited and waited and it never came. I finally called the bank to find out where it was. They said it had been delivered and signed for 6 days after it was issued which was almost 2 months prior to me calling. I asked who signed for it, they contacted the USPS and they said I had signed for it, which was a lie. They also said the check had been processed and cashed. My case got submitted to the bank fraud claims department and they found not only was it fraudulently signed for at the post office in Chino, California, which mind you is almost 5 hours from my home and local post office, the front of the check had also been altered to reflect someone else's name and address!
A thief has no boundaries when it comes to what, when and who they will steal from. If they think they need it, or can make a quick turn around on it they will steal anything from anyone. They don't have to know what's in the box.

| I'm thankful I've not had anything very valuable go missing just yet, but I have had my share of issues with our local post office.
Last fall I ordered a puzzle from Amazon. Seriously, it doesn't matter what I ordered. It was mine and I paid for it. I have lived at my house for 4 years now and have stuff shipped and delivered ALL THE TIME. Literally, several times/month. I expect my puzzle to be delivered per the tracking info. I get home and find a note from the post office that says they refused to deliver because I have a closed gate at the end of my driveway and "it's not a secure location." So the delivery person for my route takes the package back to the Post Office. I called and said, I'll pick it up. They said fine, we'll leave it here. I go to pick it up, it's not there. The driver doesn't have it. They can't find it. It took 2 weeks to find, and they still wanted to argue they wouldn't deliver it because of our gate.
Another time, something didn't come that said delivered and the lady flat out told me they probably delivered it to the wrong house. Well, that's all fine, but whose gonna give me back my money so I can order another one?
I HATE HATE HATE the USPS. Period. |

| It's not paranoia. My sophomore year of college I was waiting to receive my large student refund check through USPS. Didn't get it, didn't get it, but was assured it was sent out weeks ago and I only lived 25 minutes from the school. When I got it, the envelope was ripped open. Luckily they didn't deposit it, or didn't succeed if they tried. Could've been USPS, could've not but someone knew our area was getting student refunds and kept my mail. |

Location: In The Land of Cotton | The postal workers in some areas are just pure straight thieves. Paranoid? I think not. I had a conversation recorded when I went into our local post office. And submitted it to their supervisor. I had sent out 11 packages with tracking and signatures required. After 15 days of them not showing up, I went in to ask what my options were. They were indignate and ugly to me. Even though I could show them on my phone the tracking and it said they were still in the building I was standing in.
I had to leave because I was so mad I could have snatched them over the counter. Some packages eventually did show up. Some didn't. I know those ba's ate my pecans. I also hope they choked on them. |

Not saying it doesn't happen, but I have NEVER EVER had an issue with Fedex or UPS. I have had packages delayed a day or something with UPS because of weather or who knows what but I have never had one say it had been delivered when it hadn't or just flat disappear. |

I'd like to know how perfectly they do their job. By the way usps is hiring jfyi for all you people that think its so easy. Feel free to apply and show us up. Its a breeze memorizing 600+ addresses and the 5 different names that go along with each address. Not to mention the people moving in and out constantly. Edited to add: contact the post office of where it last was. It is possible it got wet or the label became unreadable.

Sorry jake, having a bad day. And seeing posts where other people just so harshly accuse other people of stealing...really bugs me, especially if they aren't in that employees shoes. |

Darn Your getting awfully defensive, are you a postal worker? I am and I'm Lmao at some of this. Some people just thrive on drama and see the worst in everything.
There are always bad people in every position/job.
If I had not had it recorded, (which I did because of previous bad service at this one station), the employees would not have been disciplined and continued with their bad behavior.
Treat people how you want to be treated. And, because, you work for the postal srvice, UPS, Fedex, and the government doesn't mean you don't steal. JS. |

| I don't think one certain carrier service is bad, but I've personally had bad luck with USPS so I just make sure I'm careful. I also make sure to insure everything! |

| PM me her name. I might have some connections that know her. We can at least tell you if she is a scam artist or not.
Side note: Never buy something and send it to a "friend" on Paypal it contradicts the purpose of paypal. |

| Another side note: USPS is horrible. My wife and my Sister-in-law have the same name, and live in the same town. So even with the correct po box on a package, they will generally give it to my sister in law. Really? Did you even look at the PO BOX ##? |

So say they already spent the $250, I still get my money and their bank account is now over drawn $250.
word to the wise, Ive learned the hard way. If you pay for something threw paypal and send money as the"friend" option so there is not a fee taken out, if the buyer decides to not ship the item or the package gets lost you cant get your money back. Paypal will not open a claim on money sent as a gift as there is 'technically' no item being shipped youre just paying a 'friend' money. |

| I've sold saddles and used PayPal invoice. Thankfully I've never had a shipping problem. If the buyer is responsible for shipping, then wouldn't it be the buyers responsiblity to pay for shipping insurance? Just wondering for future reference. |

| Always pay through goods and services always always always and make the person reiceiving the item sign for it so you know they got it and who's signature |
