I'm about to invest in a pair of running boots for my mare. She looks great in white and I love running her in white polos, but I would like more impact protection now that she's running harder. My question: how do you keep your white boots clean without compromising their longevity? I would just be using them to make runs in. TIA!

Oxy-max stain remover! I just toss them in the washing machine and they come out sparkly clean. I'm also a white fan :)

Cool! Do you notice that machine washing them causes dry-rotting or stiffness or anything? I've had that happen with CE boots in the past.

Not at all... But I do use RES boots which are much thinner.

I suggest RES boots as well as they are thinner and will not dry rot if you wash them a lot. I love my RES boots and I currently use black daily but have considered using a white pair to run in as well.
I'm an RES dealer and have a sale running currently if anyone is interested!

I use Pro Choice white boots and BOT white polo's.

I wash my white items after every use. I soak them in a bucket with OXY CLEAN for 24 hours, then put them through the wash with another scoop of OXY CLEAN. They come out sparkly white every time. I wash all my boots and polo's constantly, I hate dirty gear.

I find my constantly machine washed boots hold up a lot better than friends who just brush the dirt off and hose theirs off once in a while. Mine always stay nicer longer. I have a set of Pro Choice boots after 5 years of regular use they still look amazing

Take them to the car wash. Use the shampoo for white horses on them.

I read on a thread once to use scotch guard. I covered my white iconoclasts with it and it's really made a difference in keeping the dirt from setting in. After a few uses I soak them in oxy clean and rinse them off.

I have white professionals choice boots also. I put mine in a bucket with some detergent and let them soak and rinse them the best I can and then put them in the washing machine with bleach. I have had this particular set of boots for about 5 years and they are just now wearing out.

Just curious but wouldn't bleach tear down the materials in the boot since it's a harsh chemical?

I rinse mine off with the hose, then scrub them with a medium horse brush using laundry soap with oxy-clean in it.  Rinse well.   I've been doing this for a LONG time and never had any problems.  I've never used the washing machine and probably never will.

I brush mine off with a stiff brush, pre treat if needed, and throw them in a mesh laundry bag in the washer!

I personally don't feel like a washing machine gets boots clean at all. I can get them cleaner myself.

First, I let them soak for a couple hours in warm soapy water. I usually use Oxy-Clean or something similar. Then I use the hose with the "jet" setting to rinse/wash them. I'll use my fingers to rub in any additional whitening stain-remover that I need to. I'll use a toothbrush where needed.

That seems to do the trick! The white boots are certainly more work to keep white, but they look oh-so-pretty!

Fill a bucket with a gentle detergent and some oxy-clean, get a scrub brush and scrub them, then rinse! If you really want them to stay as clean as possible, you should probably wash them after every use.
I've actually had good luck using a pressure washer to get out really sticky mud/clay etc. as well.

I machine wash my white polo wraps to keep them clean. But when I use my white professionals choice boots on the front, I will soak them in some mild detergent and warm water for a while and rinse them off really good and do it again if needed. I got a munch of stuff stuck in them (larger dirt particles from an arena we ran it) and I literally sat with a pair of tweezers and got the particles off the white boots because they wouldn't soak off. Lets just say, I learned my lesson about using my white boots there.

I take mine to the car wash and pressure wash the heck out of them, then throw them in the washing machine with some oxy clean and they become white again.

I think it has alot to do with the type of dirt you are running in.
I have had my white boots for 6 months now and have not done any washing or maintaining and they still appear to be in good condition.

I will probably wash them once this year and call it a day.

However, if you are in more of a red dirt area... eeessshhh I would have no idea how to keep them clean.

Be careful with the bleach, it can ruin the velcro if you use too much. At the barn I worked at we would use a tiny splash of bleach on our polo wraps mixed with laundry detergent, it worked pretty well.
