We bought a little box from amazon to attach to our gate that alerts us if someone pulls up to our gate. It was like $25. But it only works if we are home to hear the chime.

We have one!!! It is the greatest thing. Someone comes to the door, we get a notification on our cell phones, shows via camera, who it is, we can talk to them and they can answer. We are often not at home, but we can still talk back and forth with whoever is there, UPS, FedEx, family etc. It has come in very very handy. And we can review the film, yes it records, as to who was at the door etc. Great device.

What is the name of the one you have, is it wireless and does it use your wifi?

The name is Ring, and it is wireless and yes via wifi. The device is at our back door, looks like a large 3 x 6 doorbell, blue center button. Occasionally we have to recharge it, simple to remove, plug in to recharge the battery. Doesnt take long either.
