| I live in Morgantown, WV, anyone within an hour or so that has an extra horse to rodeo? I'm really interested in going to a SEBRA rodeo June 25th that's at the Pretzel Arena in Bruceton Mills, WV. It's a memorial rodeo and I knew the boy and I know the family and would like to run for him. I did their first rodeo but I really didn't know what I was doing back then and have come a long way since then. I would like to start getting rodeo experience anyways. I usually pay to ride my friend's horse but she's been busy lately, he's been sore, and she doesn't rodeo. It'd be nice to tag along with someone already going who wouldn't mind hauling an extra one, and I could come ride some this summer. I'm a grad student now and don't have time to own a horse or money to keep it, etc. I would pay to come ride, help pay for gas, pay to use the horse at the rodeo, my fees of course, and we could sign an agreement or something of that sort. I can't ride or rodeo a ton this summer as I'm a grad assistant, have a part time job, am taking 2 classes, and have some plans but I really want rodeo experience and want to ride more than I do which is pretty rare! So I'll make it a priority. I'll take what I can get; 1 rodeo or 5 in WV, MD, PA, or OH. Any leads?

| Normally I would think you were crazy to think someone would mount you but....
If you were closer, maybe something could be worked out. I have three 5 yr olds that I need to finish.....but I have become old and chicken. I used to love bringing them along at this stage but now I am hesitant to get on one, especially if it has been more than a few days. I would like to find someone who is competent and not fearful of colts to ride with me. Just need to see them ridden for the first five or ten minutes to convince myself that they are not going to break in half or do something really ridiculous, then I can get on and do the actual training I want on them. Am going to start looking for someone and pay them to ride with me.....sigh
In your case, we could swap some riding for me for hauling to some rodeos, but alas, you are a little too far away.
It really sucks to get old AND have a wreck. Mine was 10 years ago. I never broke out of a walk on a high priced horse I was trying and he yard darted me into the Arizona rocks. I don't remember exactly what happen (got my bell rung) and it robbed me of my confidence in dealing with the little starts and fits of the young ones. Heck, I am still hesitant to get on someone else's broke horse, but have improved greatly.
SO I guess, keep looking. Maybe you will find someone like me looking for someone like you, that is a lot closer. Good luck!

| Too bad you're not closer. Like I said, I'd be willing to pay my fees, a fee to come ride and then ride at the rodeo, and I would sign a waiver/agreement. I wouldn't ask anyone to go out of there way unless they're desparate to have their horse ride or seasoned! I would want to come to rodeos they were already going to to make it easier for them. I also don't need a horse that's gonna win, I just want some experience at these small rodeos! Any leads? | |

| Bump!
Any kind of direction would be appreciated! I'd be happy with 2-3 rodeos. Thanks!
