Don't Wanna Make This Awkward

My horse drinks a ton of water, there for he pee's a lot. The stall always has a bunch of shavings and they don't seem to soak it up and the pee just forms puddles... Is there something better to lay down in the stall to soak it up? He's only in the stall about 8 hours a day when its really hot outside. And the stall gets cleaned daily. Any ideas?

Go get some pelleted shavings and put them in his pee spot. You can use regular shavings along with the pelleted but I went to all pellets years ago. It's amazing how much they absorb.

Yep, just like kitty litter. You can also sprinkle food grade diatomaceous earth around, doesn't help with absorption but keeps flies away. I get it at Tractor Supply.

Texas horses should be drinking lots of water but much of it is not pee'd out. Have you done a kidney panel on your horse? Just to be on the safe side...

Free choice salt (i add tablesalt) and if possible, get stallsavers! I just got one and am in LOVE. No more wasted shavings. Another thing to think about is why is your horse drinking so much water, my pony who was insulin resistant drank a ton which is how I found out he had IR...is your horse fat or does he have a lot of NSC (sugar) in his diet?
