We sometimes forget that God created happiness, joy and pleasure and that God Himself us the " happiest, most joyful being in the universe."
2 Samuel may be a clue that can help us explore not only what happened to David's heart but also what it means to find happiness and contentment in God alone. Anything freely given is a gift, and there are only two things we can do with a gift..... Receive it or decline it. To TAKE something , however small, is to assert power and ownership over it; and to take without permission is stealing. At some point along the way, David stopped receiving God's gifts, and perhaps eventually declined the, outright. No longer a recipient of goodness from God, he developed a soul deficit, and emptiness he attempted to fill with what he could take himself.
As long as David had an imtimate, receiving relationship with God, he was a man after God's own heart; when he stopped receiving and started taking, his heart grew deformed. What changes in your perspective if you think of your pursuit of happiness and joy less as an experience or a goal in itself and more as a means by which your heart. Is shaped one way or the other......transformed to be more like Jesus, or deformed over time as David was?
One of the insights from David's story is about the connection between true happiness and the ability to continually recognize and receive God's gifts. When we stop recognizing and receiving in a love relationship with God, it won't be long until, like David, we start grabbing at lesser loves and end up on a path to failure and unhappiness.
Pay attention throughout the day, looking for any sign of God's goodness and grace. You may want to keep a gratitude list to reflect on later .
Understand our relationship with Jesus will NOT stop the struggles and trials in life, but WILL PREPARE you to get through them. The closer you become in your relationship with Jesus the more you can understand it is NOT blind faith. True contentment and rest comes from Christ. He alone can fill the deeper longing in our hearts.
Our mistake lies not in the intensity of our desire for happiness but in the weakness of it. .... All the evils in this world come not because our desires for happiness were too strong, but because they are so weak that we settle for fleeting pleasures that do not satsify our deepest souls, but in the destroy them. The alternative to desire as nothing or everything is enough. We surrender the full intensity of our desire into God's care, trusting that God is good and God is enough....even when we lack one thing we believe we need to be truly happy. We practice waiting in contentment Philippians 4:12-13. We trust if our hands and hearts are open to receive from God, He will give us good gifts.
For it is WITH God all things are possible
Father God, guide me today to do all things that being glory and honor to You Amen
my Husband of 18 years had a awesome trip, this totally out of our comfort zone. Marco Island Florida We have always taken horses for our entertainment. Team roping and barrelracing. I cannot tread water , do not swim. Tommy won Platinum Status in his company so this trip was part business. So THANKFUL we went. Met some amazing forever friends, went para sailing, wave runner tour, lunches on beach, lay on the beach read two books , fishing. Couples massage , Some relaxing time. Was so much fun!! Got home last night, family get together for Father's Day, sister has to be out of town next week.
Back in routine this morning 6:30am. Missed my fur babies, they MISSED us too!!
Have a BLESSED Day y'all, be aware and THANKFUL of God's hand of grace (favor). THANK YOU Jesus for another AMAZING day The Lord has made be glad and rejoice in it!,
