I feel as though a few bad apples are ruining things for everyone else. I think it's time we staged a coup and get our board back to being a helpful, friendly place with great advice and LOTS of laughs!

When i started this site looked way different. then one day when you tried to go to the site it redirected you to this and you had to re-log on so to speak.I could not remember my password and was busy building a house so just let it go for a while. the house was done being built Feb 2003. i know I joined at the old house around june/july because I remember posting about the time a new shoer came and lamed my horse really bad. I missed a very important race because of it.
I remember Sheridan, and Ronn he sold rice bran oil and started the sock puppets thread. I think that was when it was the old format. I also remember SG's pickle

We were not allowed to even mention BHW over there for a while after. Threads would be locked/removed, members banned. Crazy.

ETA: Wow, after a second look at my join date I realize that today marks my 8th year here, exactly. Holy cow

I consider them family and friends. Not only that, I've learned so much from their knowledge. I'm ready to take this board back over. The negativity and petty BS and a few certain members need to either be banned or put on a restriction. Seeing how many personal attacks there are on here at any given time makes it seem like grown ups are teenagers who are hiding behind their keyboards. It's time to pull your big girl panties up and deal with it. |

i think one reason that the board has been taken over is; after you have been here a while you have seen it all and stop posting.
I mean how many times do we want to post our remedy to the same old problem? so threads started by us old timers do not get any attention by other old timers, and the only threads that get any attention are filled with drama.
so basically we get pushed out. "out with old, in with the new" such as life....

I bought a gaited horse for trail riding and have done some traveling and plannin on doing more.

I just remember you going off about the meme that was comparing Casey Anthony with OJ Simpson and oh boy did you go off about people posting that. This board has been a God send. When I lost Sidekick and was scrambling to find her something to continue to rodeo on while we waited for Vegas to grow up, kmt gave us her daughters old rodeo horse, Cody. I went to KS and got a pole horse from Gail for the summer. SG met me on the side of the road when we were on our way to Shawnee one year with an armload of bits to try on a mate we were having a first barrel issue with. She also sponsored my daughter (I've been a lifelong customer before she was PHT). gotothewhip helped me spend lots of money on a LQ trailer (but it was a VERY fun shopping day!). The generosity when people are in need here is overwhelming. I will forever be grateful to rachellyn80 for sharing her horrific ionophore intoxication story. She really educated me with it. FOR THE LOVE - do not post that everyone was friendlier in the old days....it's always been about the same. There's some really good people and information on here. If you've got a thin skin or a lack of common sense - it might be safer for you not to post.

I would love for all the ones who made me laugh hysterically that kept me coming back to post more often. I like to learn, but a good laugh goes a long way too. They were all runoff by ppeople telling them to quit getting off topic and not posting enough horse related information. They were good at horse info too |

I was part of the mass migration in 2003 too. I had a high stress fire aircraft dispatch job and you all were my saving grace during lulls in the action. I learned so much from so many of you and it helped me to feel connected even when I was working long days away from my home and horses. Thank you all for that!
I miss how we were all compadres back then and not tearing each other down. I'm sick of the agendas and meanness I see here on a daily basis now. I feel as though a few bad apples are ruining things for everyone else. I think it's time we staged a coup and get our board back to being a helpful, friendly place with great advice and LOTS of laughs!
Good idea! Lots laughs is a must too! Life is too short not to laugh as much as we can. |

No Mary, now your lying about those frames. You did not listen or comprehend why i told you your original pics woukd not fit ! I put 8x10 pics in before ghey were shipped. I paid fir thr shipping, the hangers. The man that made them called you up and said the same thing plus he woukd never do business with you again cuz your "crazier than a loon ". I'm very new to the party, but I've learned a lot on here and met some great people (via email and PM and a couple face to face). Was privileged to get to help a 4 legged kid get back to his original mom because of this site, and that whole situation was a true blessing. . . .
Whinny, I know what you mean about the "you know what I heard today on BHW" convo starter---most of my family just start rolling their eyes now when I say "hey, guess what?". Their standard come back is usually that they dont know WHAT but they know WHERE!!!!

Saw a few bb's get riped a new one more then a few times on here and one that got picked on the most and it got ugly at times, well shes gone now but not forgotton  . But I think in the last few years its gotton quite calm on here. I have learned so much here and getting all the new BB's in the last few years has been quite fun to hang out with, I have gotton annoy myself at times on here but thats how the ball rolls when your on a public fourm. But its been fun and I really enjoy this place, Thank you Gail and Dave for giving us a place to chit chat. |

Met some cool lady online named Diane who answered my questions and agreed to teach me to barrel race, from the internet. Escaped the frozen planet and returned home to NM, still kept upwith my new buddy. Two NBHA world finals qualifications, won 3 saddles, 5 buckles, I'd say she knew what she was doing ;)
And ol' Smeagol, er, Gollum, er, Mary/okhorselover, always good to see it pop back up during a full moon to feed on souls, or whatever

| I am not an original, but joined back in 2010, so six years ago, which is right around the time I actually got into barrel racing. I really truly have learned so much from this board! To start, I learned who Ed Wright was and went to a clinic, and then went on to host a clinic, I read all about Perks Alive and ended up getting me a Perks Alive gelding! I learned all about quality saddles and now my husband has a Caldwell and I have a Martin. We both love them!! I could go on and on....magnetic therapy (PHT keeps my body sore horse happy) Renew Gold, up and coming stallions, magic crosses, training tips....etc. etc.
Not to mention I have enjoyed the Christmas Gift Exchange. I have also met a lot of very kind people! I met Murphy who leased a mare of mine to breed for several years. I was a pen pal with Della and love keeping up with her on FB, Jake16 offered to cover a vet bill for me one time, LRQHS sent me some amazing Christmas gifts that I absolutly adore!! Plus I use the bell boots she sent me pretty much daily...and I still laugh about the VooDoo doll I have sitting on my table.....I love following CountryGrl and Vinny.....plus she tags me in adorable teacher stuff all the time! Fatchance was always up to giving me ideas on what to do to help my horse turn a first barrel. :-) And Hungarian Midget Woman (I forget your offical board name barrelracer131 I think?) I do hope to meet you one of these days since we are not too far away from one another....maybe at a future horse show!!! Three4luck....your posts always make me smile...I have to say I love your humor, haha!
One of our members was going through a difficult time and was contemplating suicide....we talked for several hours on the phone and I am so thankful that she did NOT go through with it......
So many amazing things.......and it is those amazing things we need to remember and keep in the back of our minds. (Also can't forget the Tacky Tack group that we all love and adore and was my riveting entertainment one spring break).
I do not post much anymore, but not because of "drama" per say. I had a lot of personal stuff happen last year and it just got to the point where I hated social media in general and just have tried to make it a point to unplug, instead of being so tied up on a computer or phone.
At the end of the day social media is just that....it is a place where everyone shares their thoughts and feelings whether it be FB or here or Twitter.....and it is truly what we make it. In every situation you can always find something bad or negative to say. But you can also always find the good....and I have to say that in the 6 years I have been on here between being an active poster and now more of a lurker I would say the good/positive totally outweighs the negative.

I lurked because there was a young lady that riding one of my horses with intentions of buying him and he got killed in an accident at a barrel race. I was pretty thin skinned about the whole deal and was afraid I couldn't hang if someone got ugly. This place has been so much fun for me and I love coming on here...back then and now too. I have made some wonderful friends (I guess I do have one enemy here as I guess she got mad at me on Facebook) and have gotten so much good information. I could not possibly have gotten through my BC diagnosis, treatments and the divorce without the support of you all on here. For all of you I am eternally grateful. Each of you helped me live through it all. And I am so thankful for each and everyone of you. |

Location: Deep South | I officially joined the BHW club in 2012, but have been lurking since my 8th grade year (2005-2006). I wasn't raised in a rodeo savvy family. We just jumped in when I was 7 and learned as we went. I came here every day to soak up every bit of knowledge I could. I still do. :)
This site has helped me solve several mysteries when I've had problems with my own horses, and I know for sure it's prevented what could have been a lot of damage. Without BHW I would be in the dark about so many issues. |

Haha well thank you! I'm glad my age doesn't show. A lot of times I don't like to make it public just so my posts are taken more seriously. Even though I guess 25 is considered an "adult" age but I don't feel that way most of the time lol. |

I came from another board where we couldnt mention BHW or anything to do with it. I joined bc I enjoyed watching everyone band together and take care of each other. Saw a few bb's get riped a new one more then a few times on here and one that got picked on the most and it got ugly at times, well shes gone now but not forgotton . But I think in the last few years its gotton quite calm on here. I have learned so much here and getting all the new BB's in the last few years has been quite fun to hang out with, I have gotton annoy myself at times on here but thats how the ball rolls when your on a public fourm. But its been fun and I really enjoy this place, Thank you Gail and Dave for giving us a place to chit chat.

I gladly set them up at our place and treated them like family as I felt they were. |
