We are planning to test our 4 year old, but what are your thoughts on testing your aged horses that are performing well (ages 12 and 13)? One is Driftwood Bred x Blackburn and the other is Hot Dasher x FWF/BA75?

I just tested my 3 year old mare and found out she has the recessive gene for HERDA. Glad I tested her. I honestly won't buy a horse (mare or colt) that hasn't been tested.

I totally understand this!
Would you buy an older horse? 12 or 13?
yes, I would buy an older horse that hasn't been tested, especially a gelding. I just sold a 2008 model gelding I bought as a 6 year old without testing him. Didn't bother me in the least.
