I have a 4y old colt slow loping the barrels. He has an amazing stop at home but when I run at a race he will not stop.... He loves an O Ring but I cant run him in it d/t NO brakes Help!!

Stop pulling straight back on your snaffle and get you and offset O-ring snaffle .. downunder horseman bought the patent to the ones I have used for years .. get one and use it ..
Hand and fingers ... left hand and right hand works those sides of the mouth ... finger flutter your rein on the side you want to go ... leave slack in the outside rein .. by shortening your inside rein and lifting it upwards more than pulling straight back ...
Now teach him the one rein stop by lifting straight up on one side to turn in that direction in a small stopping circle instead of running hellbentforleather out of the alleyway ...
If timer line permits it .. save your horses hocks and stifle by using a small turn into the corner of the arena to slow down and keep moving right out the alleyway at a soft lope, trot or walk .... you see this at closed arenas all the time ..

"Going to town" may have him a little more excited and less focused than he is at home. I have a young horse with a HUGE motor and when I take him to jackpots I really have to take the time to get him focused before a run or he will "forget" his manners. For this particular horse, I make sure to trot a lot and incorporate dry work (make sure he is turning around correctly, stopping correctly, lifting his shoulders etc) into my warm up program to make sure he is thinking about his job. I am not sure if this will help your colt, but it sounded a little similar to what I have had to work through :) Good Luck!
