No I bought it new but I think they might have mixed up the tree or stamped it wrong. i called her and she said that it is stamped a promax. I asked if I could show her measurements of both my proracer and the "promax" and see if she could tell if there is too much difference to be a promax. there is a whole inch difference in the measurements and she was not interested in a picture. said no way to tell

| Well that is not good, what does the "pro max" measure" ? I would send her the pictures anyway. |

Mine is an 8-1/2 I know. However, I get the tree that the cutters use. So mine may be different too. |

I don't understand... if it is a maxed out then wouldn't they all have the same tree as they are named by the tree? |

I don't know - we already had one for the cutting horse, it fitted mine, so I ordered that one. :) |

The ultra rocket and maxed out have the same 8" gullet. I don't know what the difference is between the two. I hate that happened to you, I love my Caldwells |

It might help if i had pics of front with tape of someone's Promax, and someone's maxxed out along with mine she might have to take a look then. It would help those sending pics if they could take a pic with tape way up where it meets the swell, then another mddle of conchos |

yes i had a gelding i was running that the proracer fit him but was a tad tight. the shape of the tree was good so i thought getting a promax would be perfect. but he was swimming in it. he is retired now and pretty fat so maybe i will go put it on him again just to see if it fits now. he is 15 hands and used to be middle of the road in size as i kept him racehorse fit but now he is a fatty. if it doesn't fit him now then I don't see how it is a promax |

Comparing your pic to mine of my ultra/maxed out, mine is easily 8" and that is just from inside of the gullet on the fleece. I think yours does look like a 7" gullet. |

Location: sunny california | thanks everyone. I tried it on my new horse again and it fits better than it did when he first got here so I just might keep it the way it is. i think I will ride it for a month then if needed send it back for a new tree.

| I have always thought a ProMax "seemed" more than 1/2" wider than a Pro Racer as well. I've also felt the same on the twist trees from a TG to a Rocket. It seems like more of a jump than 1/2" but, I've never taken the time to measure honestly. The mid size trees of both lines have fit everything I've owned for 10 years now. I love them! I have NO idea how I made the TG and Pro Racer work on anything back in the day when that's the only ones we had to choose from. They seem so narrow to me now, LOL! I had a pad modified with cut outs on a big horse I ran in a Pro Racer. It worked :) I can measure my ProMax and take photos if you need more to compare. |
