Location: Somewhere around here | I bought a Corriente saddle a few months ago and it arrived about a week ago. I heard that they fit the narrower horses a little better and my horse is a little hard to fit because of his narrowness in his withers. I own a Impact Gel Built Up pad that I had to use on my other saddle because it was way to big. Now, the Corriente is still slightly large on him but I'm able to ride him in a regular saddle pad with space still in between the saddle and his withers after a ride, but not much. If I ride him in the Impact Gel Built Up saddle pad it's too much padding. I also think that a BioFit saddle pad would be too much padding as well.
Are there any other saddle pads out there that have just a little bit of padding in the wither area? Maybe a SMx Air Ride OrthoSport Barrel Saddle Pad or would just a shim be better? |

| I would use a 5 star and a shim. |

| I need just a little shim on my horse, but the ones you buy are thicker than I need. Some one on here said they cut up their old yoga matts and used that for a shim. It works great for my horse. |

| I loved my impact gels but they actually hold in a lot of heat. They give the impression of even sweat patterns but it's really the heat not the fit. Lol but I still like them in certain situations. Someone once told me impact gel pads were only good for protecting Mand Ms from a hammer, not a horses back. Lol |

Location: In The Snow, AZ | I had a heck of a time trying to find a saddle that fit my mare RIGHT. Bought and sold four or five last year, only to wind back up at the original saddle I used. Finally invested in a 5 Star when we went to Cowboy Christmas. Now, nearly every saddle I have fits her like a glove. I would highly consider purchasing one and adding a shim.
on another note, how are you liking the Corriente? They look nice for the price. |

| If your horse doesn't need much use your regular pad, and fold up a receiving blanket and stick under there. |

I've been meaning to do a thread on the Corriente Saddle that I bought since so many people have been thinking about them lately. I'll go into detail about it then with pictures. Hopefully it will be up by tonight. So far though I like it! Way different than my triple creek and I'm having a heck of a time turning the stirrups lol but I've always been bad at that with my short stubby legs. |

I'll be looking for your "review". Lol. I have a Billy Cook and love it. But with multiple horses, it's hard to change out saddles. I was looking at the triple creeks. They sure have some unique looking, vintagey type saddles that I love. But they don't seem to get the greatest reviews for customer service or overall quality. The Corriente thread seemed to be very positive. |

I have 3 Corrientes. Loved them and they fit nearly 90 percent of all the horses I ever rode in them. Wouldn't you guess that my precious premadonna off the track just wouldn't fit right. LOL I tried different pads, shim pads, etc.... Finally after MUCH pain and suffering on MY PART I broke down and bought him a Caldwell saddle. OMG.. lol I pretty much puked at what I had to pay but as soon as that saddle sat on his back with no pad and I saw how it just fit and melted with him I understood why I paid so much. It will last forever! |

Yep! And they hold their value. Good for me a good friend had 6 Caldwells and was selling them so I got to look at different trees etc. lol Yes they are worth their weight in Gold and I know I can sell it almost instantly if I ever need to |

Location: Texas | I would try a CSI pad. They really help with saddle fit. My horse is very narrow as well and the CSI makes the saddle fit perfectly |
