Can anyone tell me about this race that has been? I didn't pre enter and cannot find anything closer but this seems like it will be a big race. Just trying to decide if it's worth the drive, thanks!!

This is a well produced show and very professionally run Lots of parking, Limited trailer hookups and nice warm up area. You will enjoy this race. Please come and enjoy!

Call ahead and check the office fees and late fees. If you don't pre enter, you have to pay these per head per day. I got sticker shock the last time I ran there because of all the fees!

It's a very well run race, and the venue is pretty good.

Lots of fees. Holding pen from hell (dangerous). Hot. Arena is dark. Not my cup of tea, but it's the drink of choice for hundreds of barrel racers, so I'm the minority. Go and have fun.

My goodness I just saw the fees on the entry form. The entry fees are reasonable but the late fees will sure rack up! I wanted to pre enter just didn't know about it soon enough

Where are you coming from? Wrapn3 is at Gonzales with no late fees, a really great venue and tons of hookups.

Southern Oklahoma, Gonzales is only one more hour to drive! Thank you I didn't know about that. Now I just need to decide, Marshall is a little shorter drive and more added money

Gonzales TX, not Gonzales LA!! It'd be a lot further drive if you're coming from southern OK. Darn it!! Wrapn3 is my favorite. :)

LOL that would be a very long drive, but Wrapn3 has the best races, their my favorite along with the ANHA barrel races. Havent been to one in a really long time, but good times aways.

I pre-entered Marshall a month ago to make sure I got stalls and RV hook up. This will be my first time there.
If you like a big, outdoor pen, Alvarado/M7 is having a big race too. They are giving buckles and a horse trailer.

Gonzales hands down. Love that Wrapn3 crew and so much fun to be had!

Alvarado has a great outdoor arena, and the producers are wonderful! Bet it's beyond hot tho!! Gonzales at least has places to get out of the sun.

about Marshall...the holding pen is fine unless you have a really hot, stupid horse, and even then I've not had a problem. Ground is always perfect, show is run fast fast. Great barrel race...BUT, as has been noted, the LATE FEES are bad, since it's per head, per day! Wish Martha would not do that, but it's her show, so...I did'nt pre enter either (wish I had), but I'm only taking one horse on Saturday, so ten bucks isn't too big a hit in the scheme of things. Come on down, the payout is good!!!

I am only going to run one day because of the late fees. I just live 30 minutes away. Competition will be tough. You can have tie outs.

The holding pen is not dangerous unless youre on an idiot, the arena is not dark, and its not hot for an indoor pen in East Texas in July (no its not airconditioned).  They have covered warmup (read this as out of the sun) and they have the Big Ass fans in the main arena.  There is also plenty of trees to park near to get your horse out of the sun if you dont have stalls.  Martha runs a very fast and smoth show.  Lots of added money and there will be 500 or so runners each day.

The problem I have with any holding pen is that I always end up in the pen with someone else who has an idiot. Always. Parents are in there with three other horses to help get the horse in. Etc etc.

Is the holding pen pretty small? Mine is decent but can be a handful at times. Thank you everyone for your responses I think Marshall sounds like the best place to go in this case since it's the closest/ more added money

It's not your basic open square. It's kinda trappy with a column or something in it.

Holding pen is not bad. It is large, but it is a different shape. There is plenty of room for antsy horses. Also, there is no back gate on the holding pen so you can time it where you walk in and keep moving to the alley.
