I'm in the middle of a big refurbish project on an oversized 2 horse trailer. I'm redoing everything, reinforcing the frame, new floor, new wiring, new tires, packed bearings, sanded down and painted, redid the little tack room, buffed out and fixed any rust damage on the body etc. and am re caulking every seam on the roof and body.

My question is the roof is just one layer and I'm wondering if there's a way to insulate it to help keep cooler inside? since I re did the floor I got it some really nice mats to help with shock absorption and temperature control there, but am wondering about the roof as well.

I feel like someone on here did insulate a trailer roof at one time? I may be crazy though, which is a good possibility lol

you can put the styrafoam boards in between the roof bows and then line it with aluminum over it.

Since my trailer is white, I used the foam boards and covered with sheets of white material from lowes that are used to line bathroom and shower walls.  Then I used floor transition strips to cover the seams and edges.  I think it turned our really nice and wasn't that expensive.

Paint the exterior roof of your trailer with Henry solar-flex paint. You can get it at Home Depot. It'll protect it from the elements but it also reflects 90% of the sun and therefore will cool the inside of your trailer. My stepdad did it to his and I'm in the process of doing it to mine.
