Has anyone had a horse with a bad abcess, (completely non weight bearing) that had really thick hard hooves, not test off with a hoof tester?

My horse had a big sharp rock wedged next to her frog and was just a little off, then by the next couple days to week she was gimping around pretty good but bearing a little weight. Today she wasnt able to put any weight on it, but she also doesnt seem to be picking her foot up, she was really dragging it around and that makes me wonder if something else may have happened to her unrelated to the rock incident (not sure about how an injury would cause progressive lameness like that). I did have the vet out this morning and he said soak it for now and he will return tomorrow (hes our neighbor), he couldnt see obvious signs of injury as in swelling. My farrier also came out and was leaning toward maybe soft tissue injury in lower leg as he couldnt get any response with the hoof testers. Farrier thought there was maybe just a slight increase digital pulse in that foot but vet didnt say anything about it.

Sounds like foot abscess. Might try soaking in Oxyclean
.
