Way back in the late 80's vet told me to use it until my horse was over his problem. I told him that I didn't have to run him if it would be better not to. He said no, it will be fine just give to him about an hour before run. My horse was dead or unenthused acting when trying to run him in the hot nights of August. I felt that it just took to much out of him and that it wasn't worth worth it. I opted to give him some time off to heal instead.

electrolite imbalance can cause heart attacks in people why not horses? personally I would not give it if it makes him lethargic. I get lethargic when my electrolites are off. like too much potassium which yes causes heart attack

I have never had a problem, but I have had others tell me that. Our vet has had us run on Lasix and B12. We give same amout of B12 as lasix and have for many years. We started with 1cc and current mare bled through it. Since we upped the lasix and B12, we have never had a problem and never bled through.
Edited to say, bleeding in the lung can cause major infections. That is how we found out about the first bleeder we had. She had old blood in the lung. She was treated with antibiotics and Ventipulman for 10 days and another 3 weeks rest. She came back great, but the time off won't heal the issue that is causing the bleeding most of the time...but it will allow the blood in the lung to disipate and be removed by the body.
Only 2% of all bleeders ever bleed visibaly via the nostril or mouth. Most leave the blood in the lung, so with out scoping, you don't always know they are bleeding. And if they do, it can cause infection.

THE Pulmon-EZ worked really well for my friends horse as well as THE Electrolyte syringe. The electrolyte imbalance may be making your horse lethargic.
