My boy has had a long while off due to ulcers. We finally have weight back on him and have him on a great feeding schedule again (shout out to Winwillows) and I believe we are ready to start working out again.

How do you personally bring one back that has had ulcers after a while off?
Thanks guys.

I would think you'd bring him back like anything else that's had time off...slow and easy. I know it may not be the "barrel horse way" but I'd start in a round pen free lunging or if you don't have a round just lunging him...maybe start with 10 min per night, then gradually increase up to 20-25 min...do that for a couple weeks. Then, you can make your maiden voyage and I'd go back with some light conditioning and slow work...I am going to assume that if you have any sense, you'll be able to read what your horse can take and when maybe you're pushing too hard. He'll let you know. Also, be aware that even though his ulcers are under control now, you may need to change how your treating them once you get him back going full speed.

Thank you for the response RedHead. I planned on getting him going in a round pen but I wasn't sure how long I should keep him there before "making my maiden voyage" as you so put it lol
So thank you for the opinion. It helps me.
