Is my horse priced right, is there anything I can do to make the ad better? I do not sell horses often and I do not really want to sell this one but need to make room for something I can run barrels on. Thanks in advance!

Maybe different pictures? Not exactly different, but I always like to see both left & right body confirmation shots, & leg shots.

First thing that comes to mind for me: Pictures are worth 1000 words. Clean him up and post an attractive profile shot and make that your default picture for the ad. In a sea of pictures when people are scrolling through, make yours stand out.

Hope this helps, good luck selling!

I'll be honest, the economy sucks right now and your horse has a soundness issue, he is priced too high for the current market, JMO of course.  Props to you though for representing him honestly, lots of people wouldn't.

Thank you, the economy does suck right now. He doesn't limp or anything, but he will not pass a flexion test on that front fetlock, which is why I DO NOT want him in the barrel pen. He would make someone a perfect trail/ pleasure riding horse. I tend to agree with you on the price, I know it is a little high, but I figured I'd start high and that way I would have some wiggle room to negotiate. I also worry that if I price him too low, people will pass him up because they think he is a POS I'm just trying to unload which is totally not the case. I will never say "bombproof" because any horse can do anything at anytime because they are animals, but he's about as close to it as I've seen.

I hear you on that, lol.  Pricing one too low can scare some people off, go figure...

maybe take him on one of those poker rides and slap a 4 sale sign on him. you will be marketing to the right people and they will see what a nice horse he is. To the right person he might be worth what you are asking; however, i would not turn down the perfect home over money.

Do you have him advertised anywhere else in addition to BHW? I would say 99.99% of people on this site are looking for barrel horses, not trail horses.

I agree on new pics and that he's priced too high for what he is.

Great idea on the trail ride advertising!

I do have a few people I know that travel around to trail ride (I do not), and have given them some fliers to put up around the barns/ campsites/ trails they visit. I put some up at the local feed stores and farm supply places. And of course word of mouth, too.

I put him on craigslist, but that site worries me as to what kind of home he may go to or what kind of people might respond. Heck, I'd just about give him away to the right home. My #1 priority is he goes to someone that's going to love him, feed him, ride him, and enjoy him. I don't HAVE to sell him, but right now he's not doing anything but hanging out in the pasture. I feel bad, but I just don't trail ride.

Again, I realize the price is too high, 2500? 2000? I mean I really don't know what just a horse horse you can ride around is worth these days. Especially a thoroughbred, there are so many that come off the track that need homes. At least he's trained though!

I put him on here because I would trade (maybe throw in some money) for a barrel horse. Someone out there may need a horse for their kid/ hubby/ whoever to safely ride around have a colt to trade in the pasture they don't have time to mess with. I don't know, I figured it was worth a shot. Also, I know there are a lot of good people on here :)

Around here you may be able to get 1500 since he rides nice and quiet.  Of course I live 7 miles from a track that runs TBs 6 months out of the year, they give horses away all the time.

Do you have any Cowboy Obstacle Races in your area? It seems like he would be great at that. Maybe take him to one and put one of those stick-on for sale signs on his butt lol. Good Luck and I do agree offering him at 2000ish and cleaning him up and to take some nice conformational shots.

In my opinion conformational photos would not  matter , he is a trail horse.. thats all ...so Id clean him up and show him off.. personality, riding him etc..2000 tops.. good luck
