| I just bought a little reining reject and she is the nicest little thing. Broke to death, sliding stops and spins and all bareback in a rope halter. Such a nice horse. I introduced her to the pattern last week and she keeps balking at the third barrel. I don't believe that it's the back of the arena, she has done it in five different ones, including one without a fence and one with the pattern just set up in the middle of our hay field. She works around the third barrel just fine, big circles, tight circles, counter arcs, you name it, but for some reason she won't go near it when it is attached to the rest of the pattern. 100% sound and up to date on teeth and chiro. I've tried it in a D ring, Jr. Cowhorse, sliding gag, hackamore, halter, I don't think it's any bit trouble. I just don't know what it could be. | |

Location: Windoming | Hmmm. I once was training a young horse in a barn, and when he got to the third barrel, some #$%^@## decided to open the big door behind the barrel. Forever after, that horse was leery at the third barrel. Another guy got bucked off his colt when that door opened too.

| Someone told me that maybe she spooked initially because of a rabbit or something, and she balks now because I ride her different going into that barrel, believing that she is going to refuse. Maybe right, I'll have to see when I get my arena back  | |
