Just dealt with a 'corn'. Think of it a little bit like a corn on a human foot. We cut the area back on the sole, but I only had shoe off for a few days. Horse is fine now. Farrier felt it was the rough ground we had been on, but.... it could also have been caused by sole pressure from the shoe not being fit properly on the horse's low-heeled foot.

Hope all that makes sense...
