I am going to look at a 20 something horse that has been there done it in junior rodeo for years. There is a chance it has cushing. I don't mind the age aslong as in good heath. but just worried wasting my money. it is cheap. wanna give it a good life. and get my boy further along. it wont be rodeo but at one rodeo a month in a few events and maybe once a week to keep the boy and him going. Just wondering people have been in this position and advice thanks in advance.

It's going to be your call. I had some good luck managing one of hubby's pickup horses that had Cushings with Chaste Tree Berry and Thyroid. He did not do well on the medication, he went off feed and got squirrelly. We even did blood work before and after 6 weeks on the CTB and it showed a dramatic lowering of his cortisol levels. Unfortunately hubby lent him out to a friend for awhile and despite me sending the CTB and Thyroid with the horse, he never got it while he was gone. When he came back in 6 months or so the change was dramatic and I was unable to reverse to damage.
If the Cushings is not too far advanced and you only want a couple of years, if the horse is what you want in every other respect, then I might take the chance.
thank you, I have a friends with a horse with it and they have no problems except long hair. I am going to look into cushing more I am ignorant of this.

Good luck and I hope it works for your sake as well as the horse. I think there are some good threads on Cushings on here if you do a search.
