Ok, so I've never had this happen until today. My mare is turned out from 6am until about 9pm daily, this morning when I let her out both hind legs from the ankles halfway up her leg are swollen! No she did not kick at the stall. I've never had this happen have owned her 2 years now. I did a diet change the day before, got new hay with some red clover instead of alfalfa/grass. Also just started adding steamed rolled oats to her diet the day before. Any suggestions? I cold hosed her today, lunged her lightly, swelling went down a smidge but not much. I just put her in her stall now with her BOT wraps on for the night. I'm totally lost on this!

I want to say that clover increases inflammation? I remember reading something about clover....I just googled and red clover isn't toxic, but the fungus that grows on red clover is. It causes slobbers (excessive slobbering) and can cause stocking up.

When my horse was routinely stocking up, I dosed him with a bag of Silver Lining Herbs Kidney Support and haven't had a problem since. I think clover can also affect the liver and SLH has a liver support blend as well you could try.
