Location: Texas | We have a recue dog that we took from a bad situation. In the daytime he runs loose with our 2 dogs. At night we lock them up due to the coyotes. We have been putting him in an old 2 horse trailer but he yelps so much at night that he is disturbing everyones sleep. Suggestions? |

Location: Texas | Get him a bark collar. TSC carries them, and they're less than $50. Money well spent. |

| Is he locked up with your other 2 dogs or is that not an option? Is the trailer the only option or is there a quieter place like a garage you could set up a kennel?
If ours are in their outdoor kennel they will bark, coyotes, neighbors dogs, stray cats - lots of things to protect us from! When we bring them inside they do not bark unless the outside security lights come on, then they do their job.
I would guess he's bored, or stimulated by what he can hear but can't see, or both. I would personally find a better place to keep him, especially if he will be a long term guest, that is quieter. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | LOL, we have a barking dog as well and now he gets to sleep in the shop so we can sleep, he loves barking at the deer and it drives us crazy and of course when the coyotes come up it gets all the dogs barking but have that one that will bark all night long. Maybe try putting a friend in the trailer at night with yours. Arrree park the trailer far well very far from the house, lol.. |

Location: Texas | Thank you so much for the suggestions. I am praying he is not a permament resident but I don't know. We really don't him to be our dog. Our 2 big dogs stay in a pen together at night in a converted outside horse stall. They do not mess in their pen and I really don't want to add this dog to their pen. At first he would mess in the trailer but he is doing better now. He really cannot see out of the trailer so I am not sure what the heck he is barking at. We do not have a garage and he is not coming in the house. That is not an option. I guess I am going to TSC for the collar. He is in a much nicer placed here than before that he needs to just be quiet. |

I'm sure hes barking because hes lonely and wants to be with the other dogs, could you build a pen next to the other dogs? |

My dogs don't like him that much. They are big laid back personalities and he is part Australian sheppard and active. He is the little brother they never wanted. |

Poor guy. I'd still let them hang out together and see if things didn't improve. |

Location: Do I hear Banjos? | So he has company (buddy's or not) all day...then gets put in solitary for the night. No wonder he is protesting. I can understand why he is upset and barking. I'd fix his housing situation not buy a bark collar. |

I second the no bark collar I have one that gets wound up easily and has a high pitch bark. She already knows when I put the collar on....shuts her right up. |

Mine still barks through his collar, but he's figured out how loud he can be without getting zapped. It's more of a "whisper" bark. He's hilarious. |

They're talky, social dogs and he's probably lonely. I never could get ours to sleep quietly all night in the crate beside the bed. After 3 months of interrupted sleep, I gave up and let her in our bed. |

Location: Kansas | I would suggest a bark collar also, but they make one that is a citronella spray instead of a zap. I used it on one of mine that was a talker and it worked great. Plus if he did bark the citronella smelled good (mine is in the house). I'm not against an E bark collar, but prefer to use the spray collar. I had to quit using the spray collar as my other dog would bark and the one wearing the collar would get sprayed for nothing.
