Hey y'all my horse is having a lot of trouble slowing down at the first barrel and if I don't hold him up he runs right past it. Any suggestions on adding rate or anything to just help me in general would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Even if you don't think your horse is in pain somewhere, there's an excellent chance that he is.

When I'm having trouble, I always start with basics:

Performance veterinarian, dentist, real farrier, chiropractor, saddle fit consultant, and lastly, and not leastly, a really good clinic.

Try walking to the eye, then letting your horse go. Sometimes, when we put the focus on a controlled start and the horse is in tune with our thoughts then we get the control we need at the rate point and the horse takes the cue. I believe the alley way sucks the brains out of riders and horses-ha ha.
