Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | If you bought the picture I would not think it would be a problem.  I would be asking the person that owns the website befor I did anything so you wont get into trouble

Location: Kansas | Unfortunatey buying the picture does not give the buyer the rights to post/scan or reproduce the photo unless it is agreed on at the time of purchase. 
You need to contact the photographer, most are willing but a few are not. 
It is legal to share from a FB page, but not copy from FB or a website.
It does not matter if the photo has a watermark/ copyright on it or not |

| It really depends on the photographer. Some can be pretty particular. I bought a picture at the APHA WORLD SHOW and had to sign a form saying that I would not use the photo for advertising (sale of the horse) could not share on Facebook etc. |

These kinds of photographers have no legal rights after they post on the internet and the reason for their logo across the picture is trying to sell you one without the logo.
Only when a photographer asks or pays you with signed authorization .. can they pretend to have a trademark or copy rights to your own image.
Once any photo hits the internet .... ANY THING GOES!! |

The one thing you are forgetting is each association, barrel race invite photographers to the event. I know the associations I have ran, there is a tiny bit of writing on the form I sign saying that photos will be taken and by signing the form I am giving my consent for anyone to video or photograph me. |

| Technically it is not acceptable because the photo is copyrighted under the photographer, that is why they have their watermark on the photograph. If you buy the photo, make sure you have a digital copy license or ask the photographer if you have permission to display their photo on the internet. I'm a photographer myself, and I love it when my clients share my photos online with my permission! A great way for promotion. It's great to have everything online for customers to see quickly and it makes ordering much faster. It is also detrimental to their business, especially when people screenshot their photo, don't buy it and share it online and use it for advertising etc with a huge watermark or "proof" plastered across the photo. Honestly it screams guilty and shows how lazy and cheap the person is!!! Photographers don't want to be your enemy, we are proud of capturing your moments, but we also spend hours shooting and editing to try to make a living. Try to show us a bit of respect. If you don't want to be photographed tell us! If you have questions about a photographers copyright or internet sharing policies, just ask them!
