My horse has a fungus on his back. I've been giving him a medicated bath every night and spraying it. Now, it's time to focus on my tack. I've never had this issue before, so I'm not exactly sure what to use.

* What do you use to disinfect your brushes?
*What is safe to use on leather for our breastcollar?
*I use the Back On Track Contender II pad on him and I'm not sure what to do about that. I called BOT and they told me not to use anything with bleach as that will compromise the ceramic. She told me to just wash in a mild detergent and set it out in the sun, but she wasn't sure that would be enough to kill anything on the pad. Any ideas?

thank you!

10% bleach solution for brushes (1 part bleach 9 parts water) or something close and rinse good with water. Could use straight bleach but will be harder to rinse off. Anything cloth that you cannot use bleach on is like BOT said wash soup and water and dry in sun. UV light disinfects and will kill fungus. Leather I’m not sure other than cleaning with saddle soup the liquid kind may work better for this, then let that set out the sun too for a while.

You can spray the leather down with Listerine and then clean as usual and reoil.

UV rays in sunlight disinfect. Same wavelength that tans you and gives you skin cancer. Used in hospitals a lot.

Tablet, gotta love it.
