Every one is different. Some your good to ride around the round pen and it goes well. And some in a few weeks your outside pushing calves up the lane.

Everyone is different.  Some like Clampet said are still in the round pen after 30 days or barely making it around the arena half way deciently. Some are practicaly born broke and are super stars. Our this years 2 yr old Frenchmans Fabulous filly was gathering cattle by the 10th ride and now yesterday at the 30 day marked she had to doctor out in the open and will work for the first time the branding pen this weekend for a short time. Of course he didnt tie off on her when he had to doctor, but she did hold the heel end, kept the rope tight and didnt panick. Of course she has been worked with on the ropes the last 2 weeks but that was the first time she actually had to put it together. It was a happenstance must do deal right now, but she handled it like a super star. If I knew how to post a pic on here I'd share the pic with you.

My first 2 y/o was unhandled so after 30 days, he had maybe a dozen rides but no way I was getting on him! I was able to somewhat safely handle him though. (He was still pretty snorty).
My current 2 y/o has been handled since birth. I hope to send her out this fall for 30 days and be able to take over from there. I expect her to w/t/c, be soft in the face, have a nice stop and back up, and be following her nose in a turn. I  will ride her outside after that.

My dad bought a 2y/o (that became my horse) when I was 11 or 12. He was started by a teenager, walk/trot/canter/stop/etc, he had been being hauled to arenas but he was spooky and he dumped the girl so she became terrified of him. My aunt put like 30 days on him, just because my dad wanted to be sure he was really just being a typical 2 y/o and wasn't actually "crazy" like some locals had painted him to be. He ended up being fine. Just a typical spooky baby.

My expectations of a 2y/o now is just that they're halter broke. When I bought a yearling of my own I didn't start riding her until she was 3 because I didn't think she was ready when she was 2. It didn't make a difference. Once I started riding her, that extra year off didn't matter, she was still easy to get going.

If I bought another 2y/o that had been being ridden I would expect the same as my first one...w/t/c, stop, and understanding how to move off legs.
