So my "older" mare is around 16 yrs now. When she was about 4 or 5, she got a cut on her back pastern, just above the coronet band. It happened in the pasture, never went lame on it but it needed stitches. It was a weird spot for the stitches since it was right where the movement was & the stitches pulled.

Anyway the cut healed fine & there was never a problem. Fast forward to the other day & a scar showed up. The kind of scar where you can almost flake dead skin off.
 How
does that old of a wound just re-appear?

Post a picture, I'm sure its just old scar tissue thats coming up threw the hair. Sometimes the old scar will get dry and flakey, no big deal, rub some baby oil on it.
