WE just resently bought a place and has two barns on it. Both have concert floors. was wondering if anyone had ideas to put in stalls along with mats to make it softer for horses.

My barn is concrete.  I used rubber mats and straw.  My horses are normally outside and only in to eat grain but whenever I do stall something over night nothing has ever got sore.  A lot of dirt stalls get so packed that they are just as hard as concrete. JMO

My mare lives in a 12x12 on about a foot of shavings, on mats, on concrete floor with no problem.

The trick is to pick stalls everyday and clean out the pee spots. Then every other day or two move the old shavings to the back half of stall and line the front of stall with new shavings. Spray the shavings with water daily to keep dust down. Clean water buckets daily.

You must keep a clean stall with enough shavings for it to work, or you'll just make your horse sick and sore.
