Unable to Live Without Chocolate or Coffee

| Anyone have one? I am getting one as a pet for our daughter. A friend of mines friend is the owner. We have stock dogs and they just don't want to play or fetch. They just work cows lol. So I hope this pup will be her buddy! I don't know anything about this cross. I have friends with corgis and I've had heelers in the past so I know how they are. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks! |

| No. For a kids dog I think you'd be better off with a mini Aussie. I have a corgi/heeler cross and a corgi/Aussie cross and the both just want to work and are "above" playing with kids -but the Aussie cross loves to play soccer, haha! Both are HARD headed dogs. Corgis are actually herding dogs and from my experience, crossing them with working/herding dogs really brings it out in them. |

Location: Where it isn’t cold! | I had one and he was the sweetest, smartest dog I've ever had! He loved everybody, loved to play fetch and teatherball, and was a great traveling companion. I lost him a year and a half ago at 8 years old from cancer. I miss him everyday. I got him at 8 weeks old and he grew up on the road with Brenda and I. I want another, but can't afford the ones I've found for sale. I got him at a barrel race in Az for $50. |

ive had heelers and much prefer them over Aussie. Oh and the Aussie hair. It's horrid here in the stickers. But thanks for the input :)

| Why not just get a full blooded Corgi? They are AWESOME dogs. I've had them all my life. They have great personalities. They are workers, but also love to play and cuddle, IMO. The only downside is hair...they do shed terrible. |

| I've had 3 Corgi/Heeler crosses. Male and a female. I bred the female to a registered Corgi and she had 7 puppies that had to be taken by C section. Sold all but one a male that I bottle fed the first 3 weeks. Had him until he was about 12 years old and he passed away from Cushings. Loved that guy and I still miss him. They are very loyal, people dogs and yes he loved to herd cattle. He did stay away from the horses though. He and his mother also loved to play soccer ball. They are active little dogs but can also be couch potatoes. When they were young they loved to heel people so don't know if that would be good for kids or not. Very smart dogs though. I have also seen the Corgi/Border Collie cross. |

Haha good luck! All dogs are so different! My mom and I have 2 mini Aussies out of the same parents and they are like night and day, one is fat and mellow the other acts like she eats crack for breakfast!

| Oh also have you ever heard the term "blowing their coat"? Corgis shed like crazy!! When they blow their coat and they shake, it looks like a hair storm. |

Location: Oregon | Both are great dogs! My sister's corgi is a bossy, bossy girl and sheds like nothing I've ever seen - but both dogs are super loyal! Oh and remember - two different purebreds doesn't equal a purebred it equals a mixed breed (aka mutt) so they shouldn't be 300-800 dogs lol.

I got a mini-aussie for my daughter last spring and she is a perfect kid dog. All the fun of a full size in a more portable package. I also have a German shepherd in the house...you want to talk about hair. I'm not a clean freak at all, but there are times I have to vacuum every day because the amount of hair is just stupid. I'm not a fan of heelers, and the corgis I've been around were too cute for words but pretty hard headed--not a cross I would look for in a kid dog, but everyone likes different things, so... |

I know Aussies can be nice but i can't take the long hair. I love heelers. They can be naughty and hard headed but some are wonderful with kids. Just like everything else within a specific breed there are differences in personalities. Both parents of these are good with kids so that should say something for the pups.
I have mcnabs and a border collie. Horses and cows. We are active and have lots of property so he will have tons of fun! |

Location: on my horse | I've got a corgi Schnauzer cross and I want to cut her little head off on the daily lol. BUT she is very sweet and actually a good dog.
A family member of mine has a corgi/border collie/heeler and he's super sweet, a vet I used to use had a heeler/corgi and she was the clinic dog. very sweet to people and wasn't overly interested in the livestock, but that may be how she was trained. |

Location: Randolph, Utah | I have a borgi, I've only had her a couple months and she is 2. She's the sweetest dog. She goes to work with me and hangs out in my office all day, but she's sturdy enough and has energy to go with me riding after work.
I don't know how she was as a puppy, she wasn't an indoor dog when I got her and she acclimated to the house and hasn't had any accidents.
I am not a red heeler fan but I have seen some cute corgi/heeled crosses. |

Location: My own little world! | I have a corgie heeler mix and is he a great dog. He is playful and loves hanging out with his people. He thinks he is a tough, heeling dog but he is not athletic. I let him push calves and our donkey sometimes. But he is to stubby to get much speed going. I'm afraid he would get in trouble doing any real cow work.
But I love him and would have another in a heart beat. |

Oh I've gotta steal this to use about my Siberian Husky, please!! I tell myself when he shakes and all those fine white hairs go flying like a snowstorm that everything is better with a passel of dog hair on it. . . . |

| My cousin has a Corgi and he is just a little ball of fun,play, and couch potato!! He is only a puppy around 12 weeks tho! He is a little nippy and a tad stubborn but that cuteness... A friend has a 8 year old heeler he got as a pup. The friend is a trucker and the dog went every where with him. The dog has a soft spot for playing fetch. He loves to play fetch to no end!! And my border collie is the perfect kid dog. She tolerated has as kids... Oh boy! She is getting older but she still runs around with me and follows me when I ride . I've taught her do numerous tricks in a matter of days she's that smart. But she loves to curl up and sleep on your lap. Good luck !!! |

Location: Where I am happiest | Wen my kids were little we had a corgi/heeler cross. BEST DOG EVER!! That was the funnest dog for my kids! She would play play play for hours. Basball, soccer, chase the sprinkler, play in the hose. You name it that dog was always right in the thick of it with the kids. She was built like a heeler, but had the corgi coloring and then her white was flecked. Super cool dog and very very smart! So now that my daughter is grown, she just got a corgi/heeler cross puppy. She's 12 weeks now and she to, is so funny! I see alot of the same tendencies also. Chases the sprinkler and plays in the hose. Followers her everywhere, loves her toys, is great already at fetching, oh, and she loves to play chase games with her goofy cat. The pup will chase the cat, run into the bedroom, then the pup will run back out with the cat hot on her tail. lol.
So thats 2 out of 2 we have had and both very active, mind well and excellant kids play partners. |
