So the Equi-Resp system is $700 and the Silver Horse care system is $450. Of course the more expensive one claims to be the only one of it's kind and the only one that works, and the cheaper one says "Our respiratory systems work the exact same. Ours is half the price. Our mask doesn't had the rubber gasket "that serves no purpose" and the kit comes with more product."

So, I need to purchase one or the other but don't want to pay $250 more if it works the same. It's like the Yeti cups. They cost more but the cheaper ones half the price, like the one I bought for my husband, works just as well if not better! I don't wanna buy a name I just want to make sure it works. If I need to pay $250 cuz it is really better I will. But if I can save the money to buy the same thing why not?

So has anyone used both? Thanks!

I would ask what the compressor psi is on the Silver Horse Care unit. Also, depending on what you're wanting to treat would determine what psi you should use (from what questions I've ask Equi-Resp myself)

ETA: Equi-Resp has the Down the Road unit with the mask for $350 I think that's a lower psi compressor not for bleeder/copd cases

I have been looking into these also. I was told the "low maintenance kit" that Silver Horse care provides would not be enough PSI for my asthma/COPD horse. So, I would need to go with the bigger compressor unit.

I had a smaller compressor that was a diff brand than the 2 mentioned, I bought the Elite compressor and it has made a difference. I had already purchased the Equi-Resp mask so I can't comment on the differences in masks.

The rubber gasket serves no purpose? It is what allows your horse to take in the silver. If your just letting it flow out of the mask it is not nearly as concentrated.
The Equiresp masks also allows you to cover the bottom hole so you can basically encourage a horse to take deep breaths to inhale the product.

I highly recommend asking the PSI - that is huge.

I would also much rather go with something that has independent scientific studies.

I have the Silver, it works wonderfully on my mare that has respiratory issues and have used it on my bleeder. They both have responded extremely well to it. The mask does have a hole in the bottom that I do on occasion cover with my hand to get them to take deeper breaths.

I've owned a silver horse for 2 seasons now and I do not regret it. I've been lazy with it this year because it can be time consuming in the evening when you have a bunch of other things to do, but every time I break it back out its shown me why I have it! I've noticed reduction in my horses cough while riding after just 1 use and another time he blew out a big hunk of mucous just a couple minutes into a treatment. I am absolutely satisfied with mine.

To me the $450 was affordable and the $750 was not do-able. Your really just spending the extra money on a fancy mask. The silver horse came with way more accessories.

If you're worried about not having the rubber on the Silver Horse Care unit to seal the top of the mask, you can get a small pool noodle, slit it, and put it around the top of the mask. It works just fine, and the little pool noodles were $1 at out local Target

Sorry finally got around to posting!
Look up the Sparmax TC-2000 and find the cheapest one you want to buy
(mine was $215 shipped, and you'll need to get two compressor fititings (couplings) at the hardware store, one female/female one like this http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-1-4-in-Female-Female-Connectors-Brass-2-Piece-per-Pack-HDA31100AV/202519189 and one with a female end and then a long spike thing for lack of a better word like this to connect to the hose http://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-3-8-in-Hose-Barb-x-1-4-in-Universal-Brass-Coupler-13517HOM/205331900 and thats the compressor part. After do some shopping around for the cheapest mask to use, I use the Silver Horses Care one and wrap a towel around it and then the air tubing and medicine cups as well as extra filters and silver. Pretty much anything you want to add shop around for on Big Dees, Equi-resp, and the Silver Horse Care website :

I love my silver horse care. It's great to clear their respiratory after hauling, being in dust etc. Horses don't cough. I don't want my horses inhaling carbon monoxide like they do from exhales if mask is air tight. My hubby had a lung issue that a few treatments fixed right up.

Here is the specs on the compressor -

Type: Single Cylinder Piston Compressor Power: 1/5 HP Voltage: 220-240V / 50HZ ,110-120V / 60HZ, 220V / 60HZ Air output per min./litres: 23-25L/min Auto stop, start at 3Bar, stop at 4Bar (special pressure available) Max.pressure:6.5bar/95PSI Connections: with connection 1/4"BSP Net Weight: 3.4KG Dimension: 215X135X170mm Electric Cable: 1.8 M

And Silver Horse Care also makes a Low Maintenance Equine Resp Kit it is the same as the Equi-resp one by the looks of it....for $225.

My friend has the Equi-resp and I have the Silver Horse Care, we put them side by side and ran them there is no difference except the mask.

Not sure who you're asking but the compressor I bought is the same as the EquiResp pro model and I use it at 40PSI but it is adjustable, its the same just cheaper lol.

Do you use the respirators when your horse has an issue or to prevent breathing issues from developing?

I bought the Silver Horse Care unit ($450) about 2 weeks ago and I am very happy with it. I have been using it every day and pre-race on my mare that was recently diagnosed with allergy induced equine asthma and I have seen great results!

The Equi-Resp system is scientifically proven to reach the lungs. EquiSilver is the only patented chelated silver designed specifically for equine nebulization and has an 11 year proven history. Our nebulizer was designed based on our specifications and there is not another one like it anywhere on the market. Our first unit based on the TC 2000 had many changes made to it to create our new Elite system. Our patented mask design was built with help of engineers and vets to determine the width and size necessary to ensure proper nebulization.
I guess the best thing anyone can do is their own research. Look at all the websites, read the studies and articles on all and the FB posts. We say the proof is in the posts!

I like my silver horse care. I just got some albuterol to use on my sisters mare that spend a week at the vet with pneumonia. (vet gave me the albuterol)

My vet said he doesn't recommend silver it is showing to cause polyps in the throat, We didn’t have a ton of time to chat about it but he said another vet clinic was doing some research on it.

Has anyone had any issues with horses they've used the silver on? He said the nebulize equine solution was fine to use but stay away from the silver.

Love my equi-resp! I've had it for several years and it's a workhorse, and still in great shape. Never had any problems with it, and their customer service is outstanding. Has helped several running horses visibly, especially one that has heaves.
