So for the last two nights I have been putting my BOT hock wraps on my older gelding while he eats his hay - roughly 2 hours. I don't recall ever using any BOT on him before. I use it for my mare mostly. I am conditioning him for a 3-day race so I thought I would put them on him to help him feel a little bit better. Well last night I went to take them off and noticed that he had been sweating on his neck, which I thought was odd but he was acting normally so I didn't think much about it. Repeated the same process tonight and went to take them off again just a few minutes ago. This time more sweat on his neck and sporadic spots of sweat all over his body. Has anyone ever experienced this? I wouldn't expect hock wraps to have this kind of effect.

classicpotatochip - 2016-10-01 9:39 AM Honestly, my knee jerk reaction is to immediately start treating for EPM. My gelding with EPM sweats exactly like this. If he were mine I wouldn't even ask any more questions of my horse or even bother to test. That's what I would do.
This is not something this horse does regularly. This has only happened the two times he has worn BOT wraps so I would imagine it coorelates somehow...

I have never had a horse react that way to bot products.
I have had horses react that way to thermotex, they develop sweaty spots where the muscle is tight. Once the muscle is no longer tight I have no sweat, this can take weeks of treatment.
I have also had a few horses develop sweaty spots when hauling in the trailer, again I find it a symptom of muscle tightness, once treated with massage the sweat goes away.
