| I had to put down my best compadre that had been with me the last 10 years in early July due to a back injury that left her in pain and the meds were not helping enough for her to be comfortable in early July. She was a Jack Russell Corgi mix, we also had a wonderful Jack Russell during that time. I am now ready to love another and quite frankly am SO OVER the dog hair clean up all the time so am looking for a black female poodle miniature but on the larger size 15 or so pounds. I had no idea that poodles were going to be so hard to find from a reputable breeder. I troll the internet daily and look at the TX rescues web sites and have been unable to find one to rescue that does not have socialization issues which is a must for my situation. We own a retail pharmacy and my fur baby goes to work with me. If anyone knows of a reputable breeder please let me know, I miss having a friend to go with me on my daily chores Thanks in advance |

I thought I knew what I wanted when I went looking at the shelters. Turns out I ended up with a 45 pound Chow and Lab cross. I accidentally opened the wrong cage and she came flying out. Not to run but because I was knelt down she buried her face under my arm and cried the most pitiful and heart wrenching cry I've ever heard. The shelter said she was scared of everything and everyone. She had been there almost too long and I got her for little to nothing. Got her home and she ended up being afraid of me. It was dead of winter so I kept her in my greenhouse where it would be nice and warm for her. Ended up sleeping there one night and ever since she's been okay. It took her a good 6 months to not run away from me or anyone else who tried to pet her. She is an old woman now and still hobbles, grey face and all, to meet me at my car to walk me inside the house. She wasn't the dog I went looking for. I didn't get to choose her. She chose me.
My point is, even if they say the dogs have socialization issues, to me, with TLC and time that can be reversed. If you find a poodle in a shelter you like, give them a chance. You never know when one might just work out. Oh and kudos to you for looking at the shelters and rescue centers!!!

| Lisa Newsone in the Austin area. I think she breeds toys, but she and her mom have been breeding show quality poodles for years so she would be able to hook you up with a reputable breeder. |

| Nope CanCan I cant go to the pound - I will end up bringing more than one home- ha ha I have looked and called about several and just cant take the risk of having a fear nipper at our store. We have many children that are use to coming in the office to give doggie treats to my old one, they usually run in and grab a treat in the bowl and I cant see them coming, we also used my old one to let them hold while they get their immunization shots. Thank you for the suggestion |

Location: Arkansas | I'm so sorry for your loss, and I commend all of you for rescuing your babies from shelters, etc. We take Luca (Siberian Husky) to work everyday, but sometimes we have to put him a closed office cause he takes a dislike to certain folks. (My dog is a racist and/or profiler I'm afraid )
I just took in a throwaway from the flood, and she's a handful. Wasn't ready for another dog, but I've tried since May to find her a home to no avail. And I couldn't just put her to sleep. However, she grabbed one of my uncle's guineas yesterday, so we may have a big problem. . . .
I truly hope you find the perfect one for your situation. |

Purebred dogs from reputable breeders can be fear nippers too. You don't know how they'll react until put in that situation. |
