What sort of treatments have you had to do for your horses with stifle injuries? Were they ever sound to run again?

Depends on what is wrong. The stifle has 3 joints and numerous soft tissue components. There can be many things wrong. Some can be managed, some can't. Some injuries can heal well enough to continue to be a performance horse, some won't. Totally depends on what the issues are.

Like the others have said...depends on the injury. I had a mare whose stifle kept locking up or slipping. We gave her about 6 months off from any riding. Our vet said we could have done surgery and cut a certain ligament to help prevent the locking but...the surgery was expensive and not 100% fix. She now enjoys her days as a trail horse. She's fine and hasn't had any issues since but she just can't do the hard turns anymore. Best of luck to you and your horse.
