I'm pretty sure I'm dealing with shin splits. . . What do you usually do for them? I'm not feeling heat, no swelling, just the bumps on the inside and outside of the leg and he's only slightly lame at a trot to the left, does that sound like shin splits? I've never dealt with them. . .

When I think of shin splints I'm visualizing the front of the cannon bone having tender spots or even mild bumps. If the bumps are on the sides of the cannon bone the splint bones are probably involved and I refer to that as "popping a splint".
