This is where I live in Garden City kansas. Sure proud of our law enforcement here. I know a few of the Somali that live there. They are learning English, working at the packing plant and wanting a better life. Most of them pray at the tennis courts at 3rd and Mary Street. Rain, snow, wind, bitter cold, they would be seen praying out there. Good people.

Unfortunately, a few "bad apples" taint the entire religion! IMO, most move here for a better life.

Location: Bastrop, Texas | According to Islamic teaching, deception is a form of lying. There are three instances in which lying is felt to be acceptable, in Islamic teachings. One is when someone lies in order to protect another from harm. Another is when someone lies in order to prevent a conflict.....for example, "Honey does this dress make my butt look big?" In that instance, according to the teachings of Islam, to reply, "No darling, you look great in that dress", is acceptable, even if it is untrue. The third, and most serious "justifiable" lie is in order to deceive the "unbelievers". This is called "Taqqiya" in Arabic.
I'm not an Islamophobe. I have Muslim relatives; but this is the truth. That's why I think it is impossible to ferret out those who harbor ill intentions among us. It's sad, but true. I'm sure the vast majority of Muslims who come here are well-intentioned, but the problem we face is because of that art of deception or justifiable lying. Many Muslims who have gone on to perpetrate terrorist acts in this country appeared to be very nice, decent, well assimilated people. Indeed many times friends and neighbors were shocked after they committed their acts. Muslims in this country are going to have to sort this out and ferret out the bad guys. That's all there is to it.

Wow
Right up until they cut your head off huh?
My boyfriend is of South American decent but was born in the South. His mother was born in South America and he has never been out of East TN. He hunts, fishes, dips skoal, and talks so country people are often shocked. He is only 1/4th Indian but looks like he could pass for a Syrian refugee right off the boat. He is currently being treated like he is a terrorist and he says it wasn't this bad even after 9/11. We get looks everywhere we go and its sad. Funny thing is he is pro Trump LOL
Anyways my point to this is if you want to lump ppl into categories by looking at their ethnicity alone your part of the problem. Many times I want to scream "He's not even from there!!!!"
He deals with the racism well because half of the time he doesn't even realize whats going on until he sits and thinks about it. Numerous times he's like "why are these people being sketchy?" Oh they are being racist lol We joke around about him starting a "#tanlivesmatter" campaign.

My point is there is a ton of hate, fear, and misconceptions out there and talk like "right up until they cut your head off" only fuels that fire.
Its sad that our country is more divided than it ever has been.

There is more bad apples then good, and thats the case since we have so many Muslims living in our country we dont know who to trust anymore. Had one for a neighbor, married to an american they had twins, you could heard his arabic music playing while he slaughter sheep on their special day, I hated it when he came over for my Husband to work on something for him gave me the creeps and now he hauled a** out of the country for some reason and went back to his home land about 3 years ago and has not been back, wife selling out and she moved on. We have more then many Muslims around here, but how do you know which ones to trust or who to trust?

one last time dear
Islam is not a race, it is a religion. I don't care what color you are. I do care when your religion advocates trying to chop off peoples heads.
Your righteous indignation is admirable. But midguided.

Indeed many times friends and neighbors were shocked after they committed their acts. Muslims in this country are going to have to sort this out and ferret out the bad guys. That's all there is to it. Well duh you don't trust anyone of color obviously They might cut your head off.... Well duh you dont know me at all, LOL..Come over and meet the other folks out here they will tell you that something was up with him and they are of color and glad hes gone too. And yes I trust these folks of color they are good people. Your the one saying cutting heads off, I didnt even say anything about that did I,, DUh yourself.. LIKE I SAY THE BAD APPLES are messing it up for the less good ones out there. Humm, DUH,,,,You sound like a very pleasant person to be around, LOL..
The comments were sarcastic and not directed at you as a personal offense but towards others on this post. Please re-read the entire thread so it will make sense.
You asked "who to trust." You trust people based on character not skin color. Also don't assume based on skin color that all are Muslims. Americans tend to group all Indians as Muslims these days due to fear. Since this is a hot topic with the election it creates tension. America in just the past year is becoming more divided, hate filled, and fearful.

Our Statue of Liberty is arguably our greatest, most iconic symbol of that fact, including a plaque on which the famous words, "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses..." we proudly proclaim that to the entire world. We've been the savior and protector of the world for over a century.
We've been willing to pay for the rest of the world, including the blood of our own sons and daughters, for a century. We haven't changed, and our hearts and goodness remains the same. One thing that has changed is the world has grown accustomed to our generosity and selflessness, and our entire national debt has doubled in the last 8 years - more than the amount we accumulated over the prior 200+ years.
Donald Trump is right about this. We are being taken for granted, and we don't get anything in return.....not even respect.

Location: East Tennessee but who knows?! | Back sometime last year there was a journalist from Chattanooga whose article stated that there were at least 2 ISIS training compounds in Tennessee. One in middle Tennessee (Dover??) and one in Cleveland. The good ol' boys in this part of the country know everybody's business. They know who owns every stitch of land because they want to hunt it, and if there's target practice going on, they'll know the caliber and whether or not it's fully automatic and they'll be curious and ask around until they know, not to mention the fact that a middle eastern person that owns a decent chunk of land is going to stick out like a sore thumb. Like it not, and whether or not there are really training compounds here, they're already driving our transfer trucks and owning our businesses. They are already here and into everything.

Location: Bastrop, Texas | Also, I'm also astonished how people admix and interchange race, religion, and even country of origin.
Italian is not a race. Hebrew is not a race. Syrian is not a race. Islam is not a race. Arabic is not a race.
Racism and bigotry are not always the same thing. Racism is a form of bigotry.
We allow the media and political operatives to use the term "racist". They like this because it is more cutting and emotionally charged. It packs a stronger punch.

That is the whole point I tried making.
Discrimination based on skin color is a real issue in our country. I'm not a fan of the black lives matter movement at all or reserve racism but because of our relationship I've been made aware of just how prejudice and racist people have started to become in America.
People born in America but because of skin tone they are targeted as Syrian refugees or labeled as a Muslim because people are confusing physical appearance to label someone a certain religion.
