I was wondering if anyone could possibly recommend a good Alfalfa hay source in South Texas, Edna area, I am having a hard time finding good alfalfa its so dry its basically just dust or the stems are huge and my horses only eat the leave and leave all of the stem, its such a waste.....

If your looking for a grower here in Texas, theres not any good ones that I know of, all the farms that I know has their Alfalfa shipped in from out of state, a friend of ours has a horse farm and he gets shipments in from New Mexico. I just get mine have from him when I need a few bales. Sometimes a good feed store will have good alfalfa on hand.

Theres a man that lives behind me that sells those big square bales of alfalfa, I can find out where they come from and get his number for you, I know that there pretty nice bales I see people hauling them all the time out here, We are between Seguin and Stockdale.

Message snazzy on here, she might be able to point you. Also check into HayRite cubes. I wish I'd known about them when I was down there, they have made a huge difference.
