| You may remember my posts about my project horse. Things are going south. I'm to attached to sell, have to many to breed, and she can't just sit. She was fine, then she we started loping the pattern. She wasn't ready mentally (to much get up and go with last owner) so I just trail rode her for a month when I rode, worked on collecting and transitions. She was doing great, so I took her back to the pattern, trotting between and slow trotting/walking around the barrels. I tried to lope her again, did fine but didn't want to pick up the right lead. I took her away from the pattern and loped her - would much rather lope on the wrong lead? Took her to a small riding ring and loped her. Got her to pick it up 2 out if 3 tries. I took her back to the pattern after working in the little ring for a couple days. Worked on picking up the right lead and working on collecting in the little ring like I had been doing before I took her over to the barrels. She still would rather lope on the incorrect lead. We trot around the barrel but... I have taken Kitkat (the project horse ) to a clinic and they thought she looked fine. But that was a month or so after I got her and we just trotted between and walked around the barrels. I am lost. I feel rushed to finish her since she is 16 but I have been trying to take my time. She needs to have her hoof angles corrected which will take a year if I was told correctly and she still has a lot if "go" even though I have worked on that. Any advice or tips? Should I send her to a trainer? Thank you in advance and sorry if it is confusing, just ask and I'll try to explain. |

Location: Where I am happiest | 1% imporvement a day is 100% in 100 days. I would spend a couple weeks not on the pattern, but loping her on the lead she has a hard time with. She's obviously needing time learning and strengthening that lead. |
